I, too, just heard of them and am curious.
I see your query got no replies.
Anyone tried one of these pipes?

I have one I restored. It smokes different than my other pipes. Like it self regulates the amount of smoke on your draw.
Still nice but takes getting used to. The little vents haunt me.
Maybe I buggered something up when I restored it.
I have a couple more to restore and that may a better benchmark. I'll dig it out later for a picture.

I had one years ago. Ended up putting electrical tape over the vents to get some smoke out of the pipe. Not a fan.

Never been one for "gimmick" pipes!! I can tolerate those Peterson-type "well" pipes; otherwise not too keen on the other types!! JMHO, FTRPLT

I almost bought one but I didn't feel like needing to get another filter type to stock up on. They use those strange little paper sleeve thingys. Those vents are weird too. The only reason I was considering on buying it was because the shape and size was a perfect billiard, the grain was beautiful too. But I like smoking pipes as well as looking at them. I feel that it would be a pipe that just sat on my rack collecting dust.

I have one and I put electrical tape over the vents as well. It was the only way I could get a good draw. I even bought some of the special filter papers and still ended up with the tape, I won't get rid of it though. It's a rusticated umpah shape and a great smoker. I especially like my Palmetto Balkan in it on a breeze day.

I've been using my finger. Maybe epoxy it closed.

Here's mine. And the evil vent.
