Help with this pipe.

I'm getting ready to clean up this pipe. I can't really find much about the company. A Runge & Co Pipe Tobacco postcard or ads are on ebay but they seem pretty old. From Philadelphia PA but that's about it.
I'd like to know how careful I should be cleaning it up.

It looks like you have a pipe made by J. Runge, a Danish pipe maker.

There is also an Andrew Runge Peterson, a pipe maker. Find him on Pipedia.

Bah, just clean it up just as you would any other pipe, I mean geez, it's not made of solid platinum...
