My latest “passion”…the Feuerhand Outdoor Kerosene Fuel Lantern, German Made, Weather Resistant, Baby Special 276, Galvanized Hurricane Lamp.

I got two in what they call “sparkling iron” in color. About $64 per. Expensive but sweet and reportedly bulletproof.

I love the old hurricane lanterns too mate. I love the smell of kero, reminds me of the kero heater I had years ago and a kero fridge at a trout fishing hut we frequented.

I have a Super Baby 175 that looks new and functions just as well, despite the fact that it is *older than myself.

*It is stamped W. Germany, meaning that it must have been manufactured sometime between 1945 and 1990.

Beautiful. Tempting. I, too, enjoy the aroma of a kerosene flame. But then I'd have to keep kerosene on hand again....
I bought one of these, instead. The aroma is then the meal, first, followed by my tobacco, rather than kerosene. But that lamp has enticing romanticism.
