I'm of a security oriented mindset, want to make the 3 letter agencies, (ATF, CDC, CIA, DIA, DHS, FBI, NSA, TDP), really work hard to steal my data, (And possibly share it with the -17 Eyes- International Intelligence Alliance, [Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, USA]).
Notice Austria, Finland, Ireland, and Switzerland are not in the 17 eyes club.
To that end, most everything communication wise is wired at my house; no wireless headphones / earbuds, no wireless printer to computer connection, no wireless music speakers, no wireless electronic doorbell / security system, no wireless house lighting, etc. Have all manner of ant-spyware on my computer.
Also of a mind to physically construct firewalls around "sensitive" components in my car.
But, I do have issues with the spaghetti all over the place. Almost tripped over one the other day.

Unfortunately, killed my landline years ago, and have kept the door wide open to my cell phone / handy / mobile. But trust me, I will find digital firewalls / encryption to keep those pesky 3 letter agencies away.

How about you all, you wired or wireless?

BTW, what is the most secure way to send information in the US? PM / Start conversation with me for the answer.

One thing you can do to try to stay hidden is to use a VPN whenever you are online, both on your home pc and on your phone.
The VPN service must store the data it transmits on RAM servers. If any three letter agency goes to the VPN and asks for your data, they could not relinquish the data even if they wanted to. RAM servers only hold your data for a tiny portion of a second while they transmit the data, after which, the data is irrecoverably lost.
Additionally, the old methods of staying hidden from days gone by such as using onion or TOR no longer work. Both methods have been compromised by three letter agencies, don't bother.
As always, the best way to store data where it cannot be found is to store your stuff offline on physical media. Use rewritable DVDs or if you want to get even more secure, encode your data onto floppy discs. Its a simple truth that most people don't have the equipment to read a floppy any more but any serious threat won't have that issue. The best way to store is pen and paper- it can't be hacked. I personally wouldn't use USB drives, many Chinese and Taiwanese made USB drives come pre-conprimised by the manufacturer.
If you're trying to hide from the government, don't walk around with your phone in your pocket and don't drive your car, provided it's a modern car.
Both have SIM cards in them that can be tracked by satellite and can be used to geolocate your location if you ever have them with you. Leave the phone at home and ride a bike if you want to be immune to tracking. Many people have been incarcerated for crimes they committed while they had their phones in their pocket. Because of the patriot act, cellular carriers must relinquish your location data when requested by law enforcement.
Hiding from government spooks isn't hard, they're not usually very smart. Over the last 70 years, they have tried to use technology to automate the job of snooping around and finding people. If you understand how the tech works, you already know how not to be found.
Proxies and funny virtual servers are the end game, but what use do you have for being that subtle?

+1 on the vpn. Get close enough and you can read data off of a wire as easy as pie though. Its nuts how much data the average household broadcasts on a daily basis. Oh and by the way, a cell phone is never off.

Not sure if this would interest anyone, but there is an old Apple device that can be useful but obscure. You can store data on the limited memory cards, they can go on wifi, but can also send faxes plus "beam" to other Newtons. I have a few, and sometimes still use them. I like the handwriting option.
Check this out.

They have the technology to listen to you phone's microphone even when the phone is turned off. We live in a surveillance state already, now that A.I. is mainstream.

I've made no bones about my conservative views, so was not surprised when my phone started being super laggy in the months before the election, apps not opening, etc. Now that it's over, my phone's back to normal, and whatever 3 letter agency was mirroring my phone has bunked off to wherever dark corner the roaches like to hide in, thank goodness. It was starting to get annoying, especially as I don't consider myself any sort of extremist.

They need to remember that the government works for the people, not the other way around.
