I was thinking I don't remember them being in colour and remembered our old black and white tv, and we didn't get a colour model for years after they came out cause they were so expensive. And when dad finally got one it was like a 12" model and they put in their bedroom aghhhhh
I've been watching "Hitler's Inner Circle" on Netflix this week-end. I am surprised at the in-fighting among these monsters, and somehow not surprised at all. So much of their degeneracy was motivated by trying to impress Hitler to gain party power.
I wonder if the show made the switch to color at some point during its run. Just found the new “Shogun” on HULU. Think I’ll watch that.
Yeah I wondered that too, but we didnt get a colour tv until the late70s early 80s anyway.
I just watched "Turncoat" I really enjoyed it. It was on foxtel and was a 2 part series brilliant. It has subtitles but very manageable. I recommend it if you can get it.

Might've already been mentioned.... these two. I hope I'm not redundant, but I don't have the patience to read thru all 148 postings, listing recommendations, merits, demerits, yada, yada, yada...... So, my two cents:
THE CHOSEN
THE ALIENIST
Definitely worth binging-watching.
The first:
This is an almost documentary-scriptural, telling of Life of Christ, but it's told from, and through, imagined yet plausible, human interactions. This is NOT the typical retelling of the Life and Times of Jesus Christ.....and this version isn't loaded down by the usual hyper-pious cliches. Modern language is used to tell the "back-story" and explain much of what has come to be known and revealed through the ages. Very entertaining. Very human. Scripture, ancient life, and our modern life, all become a reality as the story unfolds. This production fills in all the blanks.
The second:
Sit back and step into old, New York City back in the late 1890s, for this serial-killer, crime-drama. The title has nothing to do with flying saucers or aliens from space. Be in this series, and in extraordinary detail, watch as "modern day" science -we now call "Criminology/CSI" begin at its infancy, and you'll understand just how far we have come -with the help of modern science and investigative techniques- to identify and prosecute criminals. The clothing, language, settings scenery all evoke that long gone, gas-lit, era. Fascinating, well-produced, and expertly acted characters.
Brains won't shrivel nor will your neurons rot to imbecility when watching either of these productions. Both well worth the time. IMO.

TUBI...anyone use Tubi? It's a free streaming deal, but you can pay for the commercial-free package. I've known we've had it for a year or two, but I never bothered to peruse their catalogue. Was curious if I could have access to NYPD Blue again, so I did a general Xfinity search, which led me to Tubi. Some of these free streaming services have quality content. I don't know why I'm always surprised by that, but I am.
Enough of that gibberish... I thought for sure it would be grainy or pixelated or just plain bad. We're talking September of 1993 after all (when the pilot first aired). I've hesitated for years to find out. I have the first couple of seasons on DVD, but the quality isn't great with them. They pixelate like crazy and stutter. They also have unfriendly user menus, so I don't ever bother to get them out. The transfer quality on Tubi of NYPD Blue sort of blew my mind. It's warm and clean...and sort of perfect. It's better than I've ever seen it. At least the pilot is. Only 260 more episodes to go now. I'm guessing I haven't seen it since the early 2000s.

a couple things I've learned about TUBI since posting the other day...
TUBI doesn't remember where you left off unless you register. They do have a good interface, so if you can remember the episode and the time where you last watched, it's not that much of a hassle to get to your last time stamp.
Not registered, you get 2 x 30 second ads 3-4 times during an hour episode. After registering, you get 3 x 30 second ads every 8-10 minutes. that's right. more ads AFTER registering.
I made the mistake of registering, thinking I would save myself some time, as I don't always finish an episode and whatnot. WRONG. Now, I'm subject to MORE ads as a registered user...because they're trying to punish you into buying the streaming service. It's free, but they also offer an elevated membership. no surprise. it's not unusual. NOT RECOMMENDED TO REGISTER.

Watching "The day of the Jackal" series really enjoying it. I wasn't really a Eddie Redmayne fan but probably am now

we started Bosch a week or so ago, only did 1st episode, haven't had time to continue.

My wife and I have been plowing through "Fringe", on Max. Think of it as "X Files" with better writing and character development.
It's like X Files in that it deals with paranormal stuff, but whereas in X Files 'it's aliens' in Fringe it's not aliens; everything is either technology based or the result of abnormalities between ours and a parallel universe. It never jumps the shark because it's All Shark!
Five seasons; well, four and a half, really. Each season has 20 to 22 episodes with season 5 having 10. We just finished Episode 7 of season 5 last night, so we're getting close.
