This afternoon we had the sad duty of putting our 12 y.o. pug, Watson down. A host of ailments including Dementia, spinal arthritis and double incontinence, finally convinced us that it was his time. We’ve expected this for some time so it was no shock. Still, it hurts deeply. He was a joy and will be greatly missed.

All dogs go to heaven as they are man's best friend and are completely sinless.
That doesn't probably help much with your grief.

We had to put down one dog, then another died of a suspect stroke, two months later, in the year of our pandemic.

My sincerest condolences on losing your fur buddy. Hardest things I/we have had to do over the last many years. Watson's waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge!!! FTRPLT

As a K9 guy I've sadly been there many times.
Here's my advice for what it is worth.
You just performed an act of kindness that only someone that truly loves you can do. Helped find peace where there was pain. Not selfish but full of compassion and love
Find a dog and go sit off to the side. Tell him or her all about your dog. How amazing..silly..brave..funny. Whatever you want. They will pass it down to the other dogs and praise his life. Have a bowl. Let the dog do it's job while you talk.
From experience I know you have a whole in your heart. Let the dog start to patch it for you.
Everytime you think about your dog. It comes back to life just a little bit.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Every one else should hug their dog.

So sorry to hear Blackhorse. I sometimes wish they would live as long as humans but that would probably be harder and we wouldnt get to experience as many companions through our life time I guess.
Great pictures of the little man.
We had to put down our 14yo cavalier this year, I miss him so much but was the right thing to do.
