Taking a break from breaking in new pipes with a Dos Equis and a very gentle old friend a 1978 Kerry Wathen Volcano

Just took delivery of this Pete XL315, ran a cleaner through it and lit it. Petersons are amazing. Not a hint of tongue bite or “new” taste.

An Ascorti bulldog I bought before 1980. Nice pipe, just right with PA and black coffee

Black coffee in an old diner mug, a Pete loaded with PA. This Pete is the best smoker I’ve put in my mouth for the 50+ years I’ve been smoking pipes. I may have to buy another to let them cool down.

A bent billiard on steroids and a Cayman Jack margarita. And my Mother said I’d never amount to anything

I can’t put this thing down. What a great pipe it turned out to be after a long and tortuous break in. Savinelli 616 and some PA. Starbucks dark roast K cup.

    Explain the logic here, please.

I can’t reflate to your problem but the USPS is not a well greased operation either. More than 1/2 of the trackable shipments I’ve had for the past few years are never delivered by the estimated delivery date. Must be a bunch of mentally challenged sorters.

I have another 616 only smooth. It was a good smoker in about 5-6 bowls. The smooth took time away from my meditation time as I was continually fondling, rubbing and admiring. I ordered the sandblasted for it’s plainness, all I need to do with it is tend the fire.

Finally I have a smoker, a Savinelli 616. Possibly the hardest pipe to break in I’ve had. 30-40 bowls it was still harsh. Last night I reluctantly lit it expecting more misery but what I got was a nice, mellow flavorful smoke clear down to the smoke hole. Praise the Lord

I’ve always said my favorite pipe was the one I’m smoking but this Pete is the absolute GOAT.

I personally like the PFLIP. The first time I put in my mouth the notch felt good on my tongue. The smoke hole on top ceases tongue bite. Pete’s are great pipes.

Cloudy this morning. Finished with coffee. Letting the Sav 616 sandblasted cool down before refill with PA.

I fired up the cob to compliment a Bloody Mary (Caesar actually) Clamato, a couple shakes of Cajun seasoning and of course vodka. The MM cob is a welcome friend.

Begun the day with PA in an Ascorti bulldog.

Too dark for pictures this morning, a stock pic attached, this is my favorite pipe, a Sav 616. It’s huge, deep wide bowl (45-60 min). Mild yet flavorful. I’m 83 YO, a curmudgeon poster boy. This thing screams curmudgeon to me. It has a direct link to the very bowels of my sole and spirit. I like...

Chilly morning with heater and poncho sipping black coffee with a bowl of PA in a Kerry Wathen Volcano dated 1978. Its smoking beyond its pay grade today.

    Bowl Shape

Can someone tell me what this bowl/pipe shape is?

This morning finds me on the porch with black coffee and PA in a Oscar/Sav billiard 111 ks from the 1970s. This pipe has an unusual grain pattern. I have named it “hurricane” because of it.
