A small clip point Bowie, handle of mulberry root I found on a nature trail walk, and with an antler knob. Also a subby little drop point with an antler handle which for some reason I really like...

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

The weather sucks! Needing a cool smoke I opted for this Pioneer calabash. A friend passed it on to me along with some others when he gave up the pipe some years back. Some Sir Walter, and a bit of The Famous Grouse alongside. It could be worse...

    "Revised" my pipe rack

You might be able to improve the fit in the spots for the bowls by drilling the holes all the way through. I considered doing that but ultimately decided not to, and maybe I should have. Can always do it later I guess.

    "Revised" my pipe rack

I don't have a router either; I just used a 1-3/8" Forstner bit and made the holes about 3/8" deep. It works very well for most pipes; a few of them bottom out in the hole and can rock side to side. But then, the slots in the commercial racks I've owned never held every pipe just right either...

Hard to beat a Martin anything. Just got my HD-28 back from the shop with its new pickguard and repaired top crack. Sorry; not to steal the thread...

    "Revised" my pipe rack

I made mine to fit this spot on my desk so it could have been wider of course :)! I used 1/2" poplar with 1/4" poplar for the sides. Could have used fancier wood but it serves the purpose just fine. The "shelves" are 24" wide with the pipe spaces 2" on center. The stem slots are 1" and the...

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

Took my big net and my 7wt to a local lake where some big cats usually prowl. Hooked a decent but not huge one on about the second cast, and a bit later a nice bass, but then the action slowed considerably; missed a couple of strikes by being a little too anxious. On the bright side I finished...

    What are you smokin'?

Lately it's been my pipes, but H. Upmann's are my favorites; I like my cigars at around 6" and 50 or more ring, so the Toros are my preference, usually the Classic, Reserve or Special Edition. I have a stash but limit them to special smokes. They're up to around 8+ bucks each now; a bit rich...

    "Revised" my pipe rack

I built this rack a year or so ago because the spaces between the pipes on commercially available racks were too small for the pipes I like, allowing them to bump and rub on each other. I based the height on a 3-tier rack I had, and after I built it I realized that it was too short for my...

    Bavarian long pipes

Those pipes are beautiful; definitely works of art! Here's small print that hangs in my study: The Forester's Home by Ludwig Knaus (1888), showing an old hunter enjoying his. Bank in the day I was trying to get one of every kind of pipe I came across; this is as close to one of those hunting...

Does the shop ever offer free shipping? Seems some shops do at a minimum dollar amount but I don't see anything on their website to indicate that they do.

Welcome! I used to get out to Denver pretty regularly; there were some great pipe shops there back in the day.

    Leather Pipes?

I'd be very surprised, unless the leather was coated with something or the pipe had some sort of insert. I'd think leather would burn rather quickly, and I don't expect the aroma would be very pleasant!

    Homemade fishing net

I saw something similar a while back and have been wanting to make a few. The hardest part was finding just the right antler shed. I had envisioned a more traditional-looking net bag but this is all I could find on short notice, and in retrospect I'm OK with it. There're a few things I will do...
