Both are excellent real plugs. DrT999 is right that Peterson 3P’s is nothing fancy, but it is a great smooth Va/Bur. Salty Dogs is more in line with Peterson Deluxe Navy Rolls in flavor. You can’t go wrong with either.

I’ve never had it, but my grandfather used to chew and smoke Cotton Boll Twist. I’d recommend GH&Co Rum Twist Rope. It’s strong, but excellent tobacco.

That’s great that you have an entire lineage of pipes. I understand why you would only smoke them occasionally. I have my uncle Dana’s 1970’s Kaywoodie that I feel the same way. It was his last pipe before he died in 1980. I only wish I had my dad’s.
