40° and windy today. Decided to go with Uhle’s Blend 00 in the MM Southport Ferryman. Ran across my great uncle Big Bud’s rough cut tool box while tinkering in the shed. He was nearly 100 years old in the early 1980’s, so I’d say it‘s pretty old. Might be repurposed to store tobacco.

    Musings on a new Peterson...

What we are witnessing is Laudisi’s takeover of Peterson. In order to keep up with demand, they use more inferior briar which is used with the Heritage and Rusticated models. The good briar is used in the more expensive pipes. Even the loyal Pete Geeks on Petersons Pipe Notes have commented...

    Musings on a new Peterson...

I think you hit the nail on the head. No telling what’s under that Heritage finish. Peterson still makes some outstanding pipes, but it’s going to be in the Natural, Terracotta, or PSB variations.

The one and only pipe today. G&H Rum Flake and my little Pete Pub Oak. Wonderful tobacco.

Smokingpipes.com. They usually have more House pipes with the PSB rating than the Pub pipes. Also, their European site gets a few. You would like all of the finishes, but the PSB seems much lighter. I’m sure that will be on a case to case basis.

My last Pete and last pipe of the day. WCC Flake #558. Everyone have a peaceful evening.

My afternoon pipe was WCC Waltham Broken Cake in the new & 4th Peterson Pub pipe. I really could use professional help owning four of these, but I couldn’t resist the 1% PSB.

Zip, That’s the Falcon that thinks it’s a briar...or in this case a meerschaum. Actually, I saw a brown colored Falcon with a tall chimney the other day and I didn’t find it offensive. 😂 Sorry for my bad behavior.

    PAD and specific wants

Ranger, I think the size of the Peterson House pipe is just what your looking for, but I don’t know if you would find them too heavy. The PSB is Peterson’s designation for exceptional grain which they claim represents 1% of their pipes. This is the best example: The first pub is a beautiful...

War and Peace by Ranger107! 😂😂😂. Several hours, 8’ ladder, and extensive use of tools. Hmmm...new bird house? 😂😂😂 The social leper has reared his ugly head once again. 😂😂😂

Very pleasant smoke of Uhle’s Blend 00 in the Peterson Deluxe System 11s Natural Rusticated CP. This pipe has the perfect draw. Hope everyone is having a peaceful Sunday.

Another busy workday, but I was able to enjoy some PS Luxury Bullseye Flake in a cob. The coins were so dark you couldn’t see the bullseye anymore. Normally that would make me happy, but I was missing G&H Rum Flake and Dark Bird’s Eye. I’ve got issues pipe people! Additionally, I purchased...

Thanks. It’s a 1969 era K31 and smokes beautifully. I have noticed that Castello is currently producing similar style pipes.
