40° and windy today. Decided to go with Uhle’s Blend 00 in the MM Southport Ferryman. Ran across my great uncle Big Bud’s rough cut tool box while tinkering in the shed. He was nearly 100 years old in the early 1980’s, so I’d say it‘s pretty old. Might be repurposed to store tobacco.

What we are witnessing is Laudisi’s takeover of Peterson. In order to keep up with demand, they use more inferior briar which is used with the Heritage and Rusticated models. The good briar is used in the more expensive pipes. Even the loyal Pete Geeks on Petersons Pipe Notes have commented...

I think you hit the nail on the head. No telling what’s under that Heritage finish. Peterson still makes some outstanding pipes, but it’s going to be in the Natural, Terracotta, or PSB variations.

Smokingpipes.com. They usually have more House pipes with the PSB rating than the Pub pipes. Also, their European site gets a few. You would like all of the finishes, but the PSB seems much lighter. I’m sure that will be on a case to case basis.

My afternoon pipe was WCC Waltham Broken Cake in the new & 4th Peterson Pub pipe. I really could use professional help owning four of these, but I couldn’t resist the 1% PSB.

Ranger, I think the size of the Peterson House pipe is just what your looking for, but I don’t know if you would find them too heavy. The PSB is Peterson’s designation for exceptional grain which they claim represents 1% of their pipes. This is the best example: The first pub is a beautiful...

Figured I’d only get one pipe today, so I went back to Gawith & Hoggarth Dark Bird’s Eye in a Peterson 314.

Thanks. It’s a 1969 era K31 and smokes beautifully. I have noticed that Castello is currently producing similar style pipes.
