    TP going under?

Now, why didn't I think of that?

    TP going under?

In my house, "TP" stands for "toilet paper", and it would be alarming to think that nobody's making it anymore!

    Show us your crabs!

We eat dead animals, don't we? Except for the vegans, and all of those that I have met have sour-looking faces. As far as eating crabs is concerned, I'm a born-and-bred Rhode Islander, currently living in Maryland, so I am enthusiastic about seafood. And for the omnivorous diet of crabs...

    What Beard size are you?

I'm one of the few who has no facial foliage. My sons have experimented off and on, and my sons-in-law sport them; but at my advanced age, my wife says I wouldn't look good with a spotty, salt-and-pepper beard. I wonder whether smoking a pipe would make a beard smell like dead ash.

Ok, survey: How many bowls do you smoke in a day?

On most days, two. I don't often smoke more, because I don't want the smokes to lose their status as "events" to be anticipated as important points of the day.

I want to hear more more put downs of corncob pipes

OK, I seem to have recovered my name. For a minute there I thought I had become persona non grata.

I want to hear more more put downs of corncob pipes

Cobs are the only pipes to take fishing, sailing, camping, or otherwise roughing it. Hey, my name is still Bud. Why is my identification now only a question mark?

    What Are You Reading?

I read the tales of Uncle Remus when I was a small boy and loved them. Recently, I found a copy of all of the tales online and decided to reread them. Still a great read. Brer Rabbit---and Uncle Remus himself---smokes a pipe.

    Anybody into ukulele? Listening? Playing?

You might be able to get a good secondhand one, since over half of the people I have known who got a uke gave it up after a while. It's a nice instrument to learn. You tune it to "my dog has fleas" and the chord shapes are identical to those of a guitar on the four treble strings (i.e...

    What Are You Reading?

Re-reading Halfway to Heaven by Robin Bruce Lockhart, all about the Carthusian Order of monks. My newest grandchild is named Bruno, and St. Bruno was the founder of the Order, which put me in mind of the re-read.

    Carter Hall Issues

ralphmcculley wrote: ". I can't even bring my pipe and tobacco on the property "which I find eccentric", but I work for a Quaker private boarding school." That's strange. William Penn and the early American Quakers were big dealers in and users of tobacco. How times change.

    Can money buy happiness?

Depends on what your neighbors are like.
  16. Bud Savoie01

Are you a straight or bent bit/stem person?

I have both and like both. I prefer half bents, since fully bents have a malicious habit of sending smoke into my eyes, often when I am reading. Most of my churchwardens have bent stems, easy to hold with the bowl on my chest, and no smoke in the opticals.

    Can money buy happiness?

Congratulations to Mr. Payne. As an American, I immediately start wondering how much of it the Aussie government is going to grab in taxes.

    Cobs

I've long given up on living my life to please other people, so I smoke one of my cobs whenever the spirit dictates and regulations allow. I have quite a few cobs, some of which I seldom or never smoke, such as the unwieldy General MacArthur.

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

Finished my morning smoke of nearly-invariably EMP in my good old Wally Frank (do they still make these? They were considered a quality pipe). Took the Wonder Dog for his third walk of the morning, and it's pretty hot and muggy here in Maryland. Everyone have a great Fourth of July tomorrow.
