Smyrna Bright in a Savinelli Manzoni. This has always been a last pipe of the day, today's a day for bucking convention.

Getting an early morning, summer thunderstorm. The dogs are afraid of the thunder, but it seems to have passed. I'm going to try Straight Virginia Blendbase in an Ed Graves brandy, though it's been a pipe devoted to English since the start. With a small French press of Peru.

Haha! Nobody told me an MM General was a chick magnet! In my first bowl, three women I didn't know made comments about it.

I had Half and Half in the stained MM Rob Roy, then a bowl of LC Natural Virginia and Oriental. Then my shipment came from Vermont Freehand, so I'm smoking Half and Half in a MM General with forever stem. They bent the stem for me, which is nice.

PS Luxury Bullseye Flake in a Georg Jensen Gigant. This really is a giant pipe, it holds more than double the number of flakes of LBF (4 1/2 coins) that a standard bowl holds, only to be topped by my Hardcastle (5 coins).

MB Virginia no 1 in a CAO bent rhodesian meerschaum. The cat, Spanky, woke me up this morning, and like @Balisong, I'm having this pipe with Colombian coffee. I don't know when I'm going to smoke it, so I might as well post it here, I did some brown and tan staining of a MM Washington Rob Roy...

An oriental (Marudnik) in a Stanwell Silke Brun. This pipe was stained dark red.You can see how different dark red is from burgundy in my post earlier.

A Virginia/Burley (Sunday Afternoon) in a Willard billiard. I came to my senses and sanded this pipe down from it's turquoise color and stained it burgundy.

GH Black Twist in a cob shaped morta. I made it downtown to smoke this pipe, and bought a new cigar lighter. I might stop by the hat store which is close by. Nice day.

Straight Virginia Blendbase in an Altinay Zulu meerschaum. I had a second bowl of this, I like it very much.

Orinoco and Russian Red (second priming), or Virginia and rustica, in a Butz Choquin Bistro.

Virginia Bright and Red versus Straight Virginia Blendbase (which has Virginia lemon), in Altinay Dublin and Zulu meerschaums. The one with Virginia lemon was smoother and closer to HH Pure Virginia.

Did a comparison of HH Pure Virginia and Straight Virginia Blendbase, in a Rob Vacher Bamboo poker and an Altinay Zulu meerschaum. HH is better on its own, but there's some farm factor that goes with roasting and blending at home, and I actually prefer the blendbase with the Colombian coffee.

A Tennessee/perique blend (Smoky Match), in a clay pipe and a Big Ben Tattoo. One pipe had the regular blend and the other had a version cased in whisky, vanilla, orange, and anise. The casing was an improvement, it mellowed the blend and added a slightly sweeter flavor.

MB Virginia no 1 in a CAO bent rhodesian meerschaum. I just watched a Southland Piper video where he says that a classic bulldog must have a diamond shank, two stacked cones for a bowl, and be a straight pipe. If a pipe is lacking any of those traits, it's a rhodesian. That kind of makes sense...
