I'm answering my own question cause in reviewing it again I see how dumb it was. I wrote it.before ever trying to use a pipe filter of any kind. I didn't know that.to use the standard 6mm and 9mm I've found, your pipe must be made to hold them.from.the beginning. You can't buy a filter to fit...

I just came.across a product I've not seen before.. meerschaum filters for placing in pipe bowls. They're made to have a small space between bottom of bowl and the filter. I bought a,few to try them.out. I'm forever seeking ways to cool my smoke,avoid tongue bite and minimize any health risks...
