    The beginning of the end?

The funny thing about that Edward’s shop in Tampa was they HAVE space for it. The “pipe tobacco section” the guy pointed me towards had several empty shelves and some shelves with just a tin or two.

    The beginning of the end?

I REALLY appreciate this info. I’ll definitely get up that way again. My fiancé and I are looking at moving within the next year or so, and we want to be either there or somewhere in East Tennessee. I prefer the Shenandoah myself.

    The beginning of the end?

Holy smokes.... I’ve got about a third of that, and don’t see myself getting many more.... although I AM jonesing for a house pipe. Big time jonesing. I just love the thought of packing a single pipe and it lasting me through a whole movie. Or afternoon lol

    The beginning of the end?

Hey, it’s the thought that counts… right??? lol I’ve only been smoking and acquiring pipes and tobacco (again) since just before Christmas. But I always try to check out the B&M situation when I travel somewhere. So far, that only includes St Augustine (which was disappointing, simi o Tampa)...

    The beginning of the end?

Tampa/St. Pete is a sad case. Relatively major urban area: major league sports clubs and all. But darned if I can find a decent tobacconist. There’s a strip mall place in Palm Harbor that has a nice (but small) selection of tins. They also have a nice selection of bulk tobacco… but all...

    Thoughts on Bourdain

Agree… I haven’t bothered to read up on it yet. But it’s been done before recently… not necessarily with “cloning” the voice. But a recent Miles Davis doc that ran on PBS (and is available now on either netflix or prime) had portions with “Miles” narrating. I also saw a Hendrix doc a few years...

    Am I crazy, or…

Great story. I’ve been a blues devotee since I was about 15. So, late 80s. I got there the same way most white boys of a certain age do: the Stones. I remember buying that Robert Johnson box set when it came out. I didn’t really “get it” until later. It was just so alien, unlike anything in my...

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

Smoking some silky smooth 2005 Gawith Hoggarth Curly Cut in a Pete System standard. I love this stuff. It’s not super complex, but it’s all creamy and nutty... like smoking almonds. I’m in love. I may have to go for seconds before bedtime. So many blends... so little time.

Sometimes One Good Friend Is Enough

I’ve moved a great deal (IMO) for work over the course of my adult life: each of the Carolinas, a decade in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, five years in Louisville, and finally the Tampa area since ‘17. And the fiancé and I are looking at moving for good to TN or western VA within the...

    Thoughts on Bourdain

I hope most of you are familiar with the late Anthony Bourdain. He was a chef, author, bon vivant... and host of some of the most entertaining travel/food shows man has ever seen. A couple of years ago, Mr. Bourdain, who had struggled for years with depression and addiction, took his own life...

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

That’s one of the more odd pipes I’ve seen in some time. I don’t mean that in a bad way. I like odd. You should meet my fiancé... heck, you should meet ME!!! Bottom line: cool, unusual-looking pipe.

    Am I crazy, or…

This is 100% true. Also, I don’t know if he got into this, but I’ve read that if a player had $1500 to buy a guitar and amp, he’s better served getting a $1,000 amp and $500 guitar than if he gets a $1,000 guitar and $500 amp. The point being that a great amp is more important to one’s overall...

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

Been working on a bowl of 2010 Peterson 3Ps for the past hour probably, and I bet there’s at least another 10 minutes in this one... in a standard cob poker. This stuff is slooooow smoking if you just slice off a flake sized portion and do the old fold and stuff. It took to the flame easily, and...

    Am I crazy, or…

It’s a shame a collector’s market has basically priced out the majority of people who would actually be able to put those great old instruments to good use. I care more about the old amps than the old guitars, and they’re the same way… maybe not quite as bad. But I’ll likely never be able to...

    Am I crazy, or…

A good strat from that era can go for five figures. The most I’ve ever paid for a guitar was a little over a grand for a new Gibson Firebird that I’d always jonesed for… got it maybe four years ago. it’s a perfectly fine guitar. But I’ve always been a fender man… and I prefer my Tele and Strat…...

Starting my smoking day with some ‘14 Marlin Flake in one of my old faithful cob nosewarmers.

    What Are You Smoking Pages.

So far today, my highlights have included some ’10 GH Scotch Flake and, currently, some ’09 GH Bosun Cut Plug. Great stuff!!!

    Am I crazy, or…

Yeah, the fact that he could afford it makes it a little less tragic lol Still, people who are constantly trying to get one over on their fellow human beings are a big part of the world’s problems.
