Continued exploration of some new blends I picked up today. Just finished a bowl of Savinelli Janus in a Savinelli 677, which I found slightly more interesting than Windjammer, though neither one hits it out of the park for me. I used to be apologetic about negative first impressions saying "I...

Picked up a few new items at the B&M today, nothing on my got-to-have list, but might be worth a try. First up is GLP Windjammer in a Design Berlin Royal Star. In the can this smells heavy on the dried fruits. Getting ready to light 'er up. I'll report back if it's good.

Too hot to enjoy a pipe outside today but fortunately I'm in cool cab driving to my nearest B&M about an hour away. Didn't make the trip at all last year due to Covid, but always look forward to finding some neglected goodies sitting on the shelf. For the drive: SPC Hood Canal in a Hilson...

Like Scott I'm enjoying a pleasant evening on the deck with some Woodford Reserve bourbon, but I'm following DL's lead and having some Orlik Dark in a Peterson meer. Everything's good.

After lunch a little decadent delight: Peterson Deluxe in a Savinelli Tortuga. Flavor reminds me of a Nutty Buddy in a waffle cone!

79 degrees on the deck, enjoying one of my favorites: Wilke 400 in a Design Berlin Siegfried. Are there other Wilke fans here or am I alone on this?

Simple goodness tonight: Orlik Golden Slice in a London-made Comoy Golden Grain. This is usually a morning smoke for me but wanted something mild and not too complex, just like sometimes I'll have scrambled eggs and toast for dinner.

Watch City 558 in a Sav 677. Like the dozen or so I've tried from WC it is a solid "B" grade blend that I can respect but not love. Every once in awhile I'll look at one of the other forums (say it isn't so!) and notice they go nuts for these blends - especially the flakes. Guess I'm the odd man...

Experienced BoB members (BoBers?) may be able to tell what blend this is by the density of the smoke and the pattern of the whorls. The setting of the photo is also a clue, as well as this: "Holy hamburger, Batman! The ketchup monster strikes again!" Yes, this is how I entertain myself on my...

My own blend "Beacon Hill" so named because the components have combined to give a flavor of Boston baked beans. In a Medico Gothic which is dedicated to this blend and another similar blend called "Friar Tuck."

Amphora Burley Blend in a cob. 1% chance of rain today and here I am sitting out a downpour. Good thing I had a pipe ready to go!

Before dinner smoke: my own "Gotham Knight" in a Sav 677. Right now halfway through a bowl of Wilke High Hat in a paneled Design Berlin. Good stuff!

    Selling of The Cellar

Sorry to hear the news. Quite the investment you've got. Wish I could help but the only item I could use is the Burley Kake, but what about your pipes and accessories? Going to list on eBay, try here on BoB, or go the consignment route?

First pipe in a week, so easing back in with a mild Virginia blend: Ashton Gold Rush in a Buescher cob. Among other things the second Covid vaccine did me in. Other than to get up to go to the bathroom or have a bowl of soup I slept for 15 hours and did absolutely nothing - not even to read or...

Curtis Draper "Sir Francis Drake" in a Yves St. Claude bent brandy. Was looking at some of the forlorn and neglected jars at the bottom of my cabinet and pulled this one out: a full aromatic that smells of sweet nuts and touch of cinnamon - sort of like a Baklava. Years ago we went to D.C. to...

My own blend Friar Tuck in a Medico Gothic. This is H&H Burley Cake, Mac Baren Dark Twist and a pinch of 507 stoved Virginia. Good American style comfort food!

Wilke Commander in a Design Berlin Prelude. For once I don't have anything to say. Which is saying something isn't it?!

Wilke 515 in a Country Gentleman cob that I reserve for blends with unusual flavorings. I just watched the 1946 Terror on the Train so I wanted to try again this blend that was supposedly a favorite of the actor Basil Rathbone. Interestingly, of five characters in the film with pipes, none are...

Most unusual. I feel like you should be wearing a Gandalf hat with that one!

Some Dunhill Flake in a John Redman tall Dublin. Sometimes you just want good pure tobacco taste. This tin had nearly six years on it which is long enough to give deep, smooth flavor.
