    Ouch, that's brutal, Brutus!

Just finished a bowl of C&D Kelly's Coin in a Dagner cob. Next up: Amphora Burley blend in a paneled Design Berlin. Mention of Old Toby and Shepherd's Pie reminds me I need to give those another go - neither really impressed the first time around, but it's been several months - maybe I've...

After dinner now and my only bowl for today: Five Brothers in a MM Mark Twain. I'll be firing up my Pete Meer on St. Paddy's Day (with some Peterson tobacco). Not a fan of Irish Whiskey so I'll probably have some spiked iced St. Brendan's Irish Cream Liqueur for dessert. I'm sure that stuff...

Playing catch up with my posts . . . This morning: Wilke Sailor Jack in a Charatan pot. Nothing awakens like a full-throttle Latakia for first smoke of the day! Right now: getting ready to light up my new concoction of Five Brothers and cigar leaf (in a Medico Gothic).

Five Brothers in a Whitehall Suffolk Algerian (supposedly made by Ben Wade in the 60's). I use Five Brothers mostly for blending but every once in awhile enjoy it solo. But I was thinking how good a pinch of aged maduro leaf would be with this. Maybe I'll nip the tip off a Padron Anniversario to...

My own blend "Chaucer" in a Golden Gate Golden Swan. This light golden Virginia based aromatic blend so named because it has 1/8 mix of Maryland and white Burley that was soaked in Chaucer's Mead then baked at 160 degrees until dry. Gives a more distinctive taste than just using a honey mix...

Already 59 degrees and sunny at 9:30 in the morning, so I'm dipping into some of my Springtime favorites. Starting with Samuel Gawith Kendal Cream Flake in a Pepe Pipes Woodstock.

Wilke 400 in a GBD Seventy-Six. Now to the recliner chair to finish an interesting book I'm reading.

My own blend "Friar Tuck" in a Medico Gothic. Trying the new Savinelli activated charcoal 6mm filter in this pipe (instead of the usual Medico or Grabow paper filters). First impression is that it didn't do much. Maybe on harsher blends or some nic-bombs like Five Brothers. Further pipes and...

CS Cherokee in a Savinelli Tortuga. Maybe it's just the beautiful weather but this really hit the spot today!

Beautiful weather here, taking a break from pruning the roses in front - enjoying a pipe on the porch: McClelland Coyote in a Savinelli Capri.

The usual morning combo: Country Squire Cowboy Coffee in its dedicated Savinelli Lucite 602.

Wilke 400 in Design Berlin Siegfried. This stuff reminds me of Rahm Cremesuppe, an Austrian cream soup with pumpernickel. Anybody else ever had that in their travels?

What happened to Sam Hill's in old town Prescott? Last time I was visiting my brother we went in there, a young guy who didn't know anything, but still at least something. I'll probably fire up some Peterson Deluxe, which isn't bad for an aro.

My own blend called "Viking Quest" in a Stanwell Trio. One half is a Danish style VA-BUR with my own roasted chestnut casing (a pain in the butt to filter!) but the real kicker is that the other half is MacBaren Old Dark Fired. That's what gives it some backbone!

Aw shucks. If I'm not careful I'm gonna get a reputation as an old softy! That's alright, just trying to offer some counterbalance to the craziness on eBay. You know something is amiss when you see old worn out Grabow pipes listed for as high as $69.99 just because they're "vintage." I'm just...

Benediction in a Hilson Rainer Barbi. One of the new pipes I bought from the proceeds of all the stuff I've been selling here on BoB! :)

Your Favorite Sweet & Smoky Blends

Thanks for the ideas. I've seen Bob's chocolate mentioned by others as well, so I'll have to check that out for sure. Looking over the Wilke portfolio it seems they may also have some in this category that I haven't tried yet. But overall it seems to be a narrow niche. Not a lot of pipe smokers...

My own blend "Dark Matter" in a MM Mark Twain. Good and satisfying after a full lunch. Yeah, Buddy - forget all that thar fancy "piper" talk - this un's a Big, Bold, Bowl o' Burly Burley! ;)
