    A P-Lip Inquiry

I have a Peterson that came with a p-lip stem. I had it replaced with a fishtail and now enjoy it much more. However, my mom got me a Savinelli a couple years ago that came with a modified p-lip. That end of the stem is for all intents the same shape as one on a Pete, but instead of just a pin...

Why we choose the pipes we do

I prefer bents, they just seem "right" to me. Nothing against a straight pipe, I own a couple...but I'm mostly a clencher and the bents do it for me. When it comes to "what I go for", I don't really have any preconcieved thoughts. If something stands out to me and I like how it's been...

    Pipe cleaning recommendations.

Start here: http://www.grizzly.com/products/searchresults.aspx?q=buffing%20compound I normally start with brown tripoli then move on to the white, then tan then a clean buff. Brown will take off most of the gunk on the stem BUT keep in mind, it WILL remove any kind of stampings on the stem if...

    Best Pipes Under 100 bucks?

I have about 5 Savinellis that I purchased when I was just starting to smoke a pipe. All were in the $35-$50 range at the time(10 or so years ago) and every single one of them still smokes like a dream.

    Pipe cleaning recommendations.

If you have a variable speed drill press(or grinder) you can get a mandrel, some buffs and some compounds for buffing the stems of estate pipes. Even if you have a plug-in, variable speed electric hand drill, you can do the same thing if you clamp the drill in place so you can work.

Breathing air as bad as smoking?

I've been saying this for years now. In my city it cracks me up because you get people who won't sit inside bars/restaurants where smoking is allowed. But...they'll sit out on the sidewalk tables on the busiest street in town, at the busiest traffic time of the day, swilling drinks and sucking...

    What's Your Favorite Computer Game?

It's old, but my all-time favorite PC game was Quake 2 multiplayer. What a blast, no pun intended.

    What Are You Reading?

Nope...not Interworld. My bad. It's Neverwhere: A Novel by Neil Gaiman http://www.amazon.com/Neverwhere-A-Novel/dp/0060557818/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218547885&sr=8-1

    What Are You Reading?

Not Dan Brown. You're getting into American Gods? I started to read it a while back, got about 3/4 through it and kind of petered out on it. I may have to try it again and see if I can get through it. If you liked that, try Underword...I believe that's the name of it...another by Neil Gaiman...

    Plantar Faciitis

I know wikipedia's not the greatest place to get info from, but the first paragraph in the Treament section for this states the following : Might be you just need to keep doing what you've been doing and give it time to start healing up.

Suggestion for an inexpensive, yet quality, pipe

You may also want to check out J.M. Boswell. He does some nice work and is pretty economically priced. I believe his site is www.boswellpipes.com.

    Smoking Outdoors in Hot Weather

I'm going to throw in my $.02 and suggest the humidity was the major player here. More moisture = more steam = hotter smoke, especially if you're huffing on it heavy.

    Grabows for aromatics?

Any pipe you want to smoke them in seems to be the answer to me. If you're concerned about stank crossing over, just dedicate a pipe to aromatics and have at it. As an aside, not all aromatics are the devil  You don't have to dedicate a "low end" smoker just because aromatics aren't...

    Tobacco on The History Channel

That's exactly the part I was talking about when I mentioned in the first post that I'll never smoke another cigarette again. That was foul and disgusting.

    Tobacco on The History Channel

I think this is what I was watching, but I only caught the first half so missed the parts you're talking about. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for it.

    no layaway plan??????

Even makers who commission pipes won't generally allow something like this. Some will, but in most cases you have to have made them warm and fuzzy with you as a customer first. The issue with a pipe maker, obviously, is different from a seller, but the principal remains. Moving stock and not...

    Tobacco on The History Channel

Last evening(5/29/08) around 7:00pm EST there was a show on History about tobacco. Unfortunately, it leaned more towards the production of cigarettes but it was still informative and very interesting. Some good historical info there. I'm not too big into the cigs but I do smoke one every now...
