Any Experiences with Amphora, Either Pipes and/or Taback?

Don't know anything about the pipes. Smoked some Amphora Brown, I think it was called back when I started smoking. It smoked hot and bitey.

How did you guys get over tung bite?

Over the years, I have gradually learned what causes bite, and what to do about it, at least for me. Virginias are high sugar tobaccos, frequently quite wet, and tend to bite. Dry them out a good bit, and most the bite is gone. Most aromatics, and OTCs are highly processed and cased and tend to...

Which Tinderbox Blends should I try?

I smoked a good bit of the Tinderbox blends back in the early eighties. The had Special availble, but my favorite at the time was Connisseur. Tried some of them recently, and they have changed dramatically, nothing like they used to be.

    Kicked my arse!

Most C&D burley blends are of a decent nic content. Flakes #2 and #3 are my favorites, and they don't bother me. Most often hiccups are caused by a pH balance problem in the diaphragm. Take a bite of a lemon wedge and it usually stops them. Bartenders world wide know that one.

    Strong virginia flake?

GH Dark Flake Unscented (and the plug version), and FVF. Be aware the Dark Flake is scented. The explanation I have read is that the Unscented is cased, but not topped, and the scented is both. Big difference.

    Ser Jacopo pipes

Good smokers, I think, I have several. I bought them all new and heavily discounted. Not the quality of a Castello, but they didn't cost Castello money either. I prefer Cavicchi and Castello to SerJacs, but still very good Italian pipes.

    Touchstone Blends for newbies

A lot of good tobaccos on the list, some I would recommend and some not. Surprised you don't have any C&D burley on the list, they are the king of burley. The blends in your burley section are all highly processed, flavored/sweetened blends, regardless of their description. Call C&D and ask them...

I just tried GL Pease Chelsea Morning.

Chelsea Morning is a good light English, and to be honest I didn't know it had perique in it until you mentioned it. Maybe I am just insensitive to it. I like Quiet Nights better, but both are good.

    Natch's Pipe at 7,108 ft

Not surprising. Year before last, I crossed Beartooth Pass on June 17th on the bike. Snowing and four foot drifts at the summit.

I just tried Mac Baren Plumcake

If you can smoke McB tobacco, Plumcake is a good one. Unfortunately I can't, they just bite the daylites out of me. Not a puffing thing, it's body chemistry. They use sweeteners that some of us just can't smoke, regardless of how slowly they are puffed. Wish I could tolerate them.
