Another vote for the zippo pipe lighter or matches. I also clean the rim with saliva every few smokes. I have pipes I have had for years and the rims still looks good.

This is sad news and makes me appreciate having a local shop that is thriving even more. The only thing more enjoyable than smoking my pipes is having a place to go and sit and chop it up with other pipe smokers.

That is one good looking meerschaum. I'm smoking mine now and I'm pretty happy. I put off buying a meerschaum for years and now I'm wondering why the hesitation.
