    to much going on

    1. The company has been around for 150 years. 2. One HELL of a selection: pipes, tobacco and cigars 3. Nice people 4. Inside of a multistory building in Chicago and you can smoke. Go there. Report back. You have your orders.

    Automatic dishwasher issue

No help here. My wife and I have two digital dishwashers. :P

    Thoughts on Zippos

I use the standard Zippo although I have a pipe insert. Haven't noticed any taste unless I just filled the lighter and that clears quickly. Then again, while I prefer wooden matches, I have no problem using paper matches. Just let the sulfur burn off first (applies to all matches).

    Yet Another Pet Peeve

White meer with black stem? Doesn't the meer color enough in a few days to match the stem? :P

    My right leg hurts today

Good. You had it checked out. I lost a friend who was too busy at work to get a banged leg (from his car door of all things...) checked out. Blood clot broke loose. The end. It's been 20 years. My wife and I still miss talking with him.

    Inflation????

A hunk of dowel makes a nice tamper. Not at that price, though. Unless one cannot afford the sandpaper and/or cannot cut a piece off of a full dowel.

What's the Trick to Savinelli Balsa Filters?

I have never had a problem with the filters blocking the draw. Stops a pipe cleaner dead, though. While I don't use them with every smoke, I find them to be helpful with a tobacco that is a bit too moist. It helps tame it a bit. Same with the Brigham filters. I tend not to reuse Sav filters. I...

My 13th pipe and it looks like it (Added Photos)

Don't lower your standards, but let others help you judge the quality. You are doing superbly thus far.

My 13th pipe and it looks like it (Added Photos)

Damn. That is one ugly pipe! Since you insist that there is something wrong with, I figured that is what you wanted to hear. Are you happy now?

    Muscling through

If I really don't like it, it gets tossed. Too many good tobacco blends to waste time with lesser ones. I don't like waste either, but it you tried a jar or can of some food item and you didn't like it, would you really choke it down? ("Hmmm, I have heard of Vegemite...") As for the cost...

    a pipe for aromatic tombacco?

Meerschaum also gives a true taste of aromatics. That gets my vote.

    HO Railroading.

Also, just for grins, google "carolina central n scale". It was a layout in Model Railroader in two issues (one with Atlas track, and a later revisit with Kato track). I think it is a nice simple layout, and close enough to yours, that you may find some useful tweaks. If you send me your email...

    HO Railroading.

Sounds good. Do not "seal" the tunnel. Leave the back open. The illusion will still work from the front. You REALLY don't want derailments within the tunnel. Adding turnouts in the tunnel (unless the back is open) is trouble waiting to happen. If you operate alone, the derails will be in...

    HO Railroading.

On the back side, you could add a siding, which would let you park a second train. When switching is done with the first train and it goes off into the rest of the world, you can bring in the other train for more switching. As for cost, I have read that it can be at least $50 per square foot...

Tobacco Benders.. No not blenders, BENDERS

Well, I experimented with a bunch of aromatics, and for the first time I found a bunch I really liked. Such a bunch, that I probably won't open a tin of anything else until I get through much of it. Not sure if this is a bender or just being a kid with a new toy.

    Sherlock: The Abominable Bride

Disjointed is very polite. I foolishly stuck with it to the end and would like the time back.

    Gatlinburlier

For what were they, well, enjoined sounds like the right word. The diatribe on their website is not clear about anything except their displeasure. Metaphorical moment: Live and let live works. A can of raid works. Kicking the hornet's nest, however, is stupid.

    Wally Frank Bullmoose Restoration

I like the shape and have a few rhodesians and authors. None of them have the saddle stem though, Those are only on my bulldogs. Nice pipe and great restoration.

    HO Railroading.

N scale is terrific, but my eyes are not improving with age. Lots more can be done in N with the space of a small HO layout. Do play around, whatever scale. Shelf layouts are simple for switching. It is the curves that eats up the real estate. Pretty much 18" radius for HO is the smallest...
