    Mini-pipe vs. Half bowls

Weather is getting cold and I often don't have enough time for a long pipe.  Was thinking of getting a small bowled pipe like this Tsuge Capito. http://www.lightertime.co.kr/m/product.html?branduid=66084&xcode=036&mcode=004&scode=001&type=X&sort=order&cur_code=036004&GfDT=bmd3UA%3D%3D Just...

Looking for a Coffee/Colombian Coffee Flavoured Tobacco

Wessex Gold Brick is a plug flavored with coffee. Its a straight virginia with a mild taste of coffee. Its nice though very mild. I get some coffee near the end of the bowl but the first 2/3 is clean virginia. If you like plugs give it a look.

    Old School Shaving

Nice set up! I use a straight razor that I bought about 6 years ago. Picked it up as one of the "sight unseen" deals at Whipped Dog Straights along with his "poor man strop" and a cheap barber's hone. At 43 bucks for the whole setup its more than paid off. I think I remember Larry the...

    Favorite snack with a pipe

During the heatwave this summer I did have fresh cold plums while puffing bowls of Cabbies Mixture. Was good. Other than that its just scotch or water for me. Coffee too.

    Dose any one sew

As opposed to tubing, how about just rolling up the tobacco in canvas and then winding it in rope? Think it would have the same effect and you could avoid hunting for tubing. Theres some youtube vids out there of people winding tobacco in ropes the old way. Good luck!

    A question about Nepal

Yesterday afternoon I presented/proposed the trip to my gr. 10 to 12 students (about 30 in total). Just over a week of volunteering and sightseeing in Kathmandu for April. Response was very positive. Will give them till Dec. 1st to decide and commit. Would like a minimum of at least 12 to make...

    Interview the poster below you

In the short term I look forward to surfing once a week.  There are about 5 decent beaches with swells down the road from the town where I live.  Weather is getting cold these days but I recently got a 5mm wetsuit that should keep me toasty through the winter.  I love being in the ocean whether...

    A question about Nepal

Thank you Stick. That's some helpful advice. This week I intend to propose it to the students and hope that I get some takers. I expect it might take some convincing as Koreans tend to prefer travel destinations that offer the opposite of what Nepal can offer: shopping, modernity, luxury...

    A question about Nepal

Im considering taking a group of about 15 high school students (korean) to Nepal in April. Taking in Katmandhu and volunteering in a rural village. Anyone here ever done such an undertaking? Been to Nepal? I haven't. Ive taken school groups to NA and Europe but never to a 3rd world country...

What do you do with the empty tins?

I can't bring myself to throw em away (cigar boxes either). To me they are like art because of the label. Also being in Korea they've travelled a long way to get into my hands so I consider them pretty special. I usually put bulk tobacco in them to carry about. Or my wife uses them for...

    Pipe smoking in Seoul

Awesome! Glad to hear you found it. I agree its really nice. Too bad about Marriot...I went there a lot over the years and it was great around 6 years ago...then it just got neglected. Stock ran out and that was that. Last time I went about 4 months ago the walk in humidor was completely...

    Something wicked this way comes

So it arrived. I did the honorable thing and gave it a whirl in a bent Dr.Plumb that I rarely ever use (because it has this rather long stem that prevents it from fitting in my pipe case...was worried about ghosting a pipe). I had read the scathing reviews of it on TR as well so of course I...

    Something wicked this way comes

I really have my father-in-law to thank for helping me get into the world of pipes. He had a collection of about 7 different pipes that he collected back in the 80's when he smoked pipes that he graciously gifted to me. It was a score: BBB's, a GBD, a Peterson XL306, and few Dr. Plumbs and a...

SamuelGawith Best Brown Flake: Please Help

Aside from being a dark and rich flake from the house of Sam Gawith, I don't find it very comparable to St. James. Where St. James has some fruity tones to it and some very apparent spice from the perique, BBF is more sweet and has more yeasty tones. Its a stoved virginia through and through...

    Springfield, Missouri, "On the Nod"...

I wanted to say thanks for sharing your story Cart. You won a battle back there in your past and I admire you for it. Reminds me of something I read inscribed on a temple in Vietnam: "It's better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be...
