    William Golding

Lord of the Flies was to Golding what A Clockwork Orange was to Anthony Burgess. Many don't realize that he also wrote other fine and interesting books: The Inheritors, Darkness Visible, Rites of Passage, The Spire, and The Paper Men (a very funny book), and others.

    Bulk Recommendations?

Aside from some of the ones already listed in the above posts, two of my favorite bulk blends are by Park Lane Tobacconist: Connoisseurs Flake, a Scottish blend, and Knightsbridge, an English. I've also heard good things about their Old Church and Turkish Mystery.

    recommended tobaccos

Along with Lousiana Red and Anni Kake, another great H&H VaPer (or Cig/Va/Per) is Virginia Spice. Don't let the listing of cigar leaf keep you away from this one. Such a listing would never keep me away, but others don't care for a "cigar in a pipe bowl." That is not the case in this well...

No Surgeon General's Warning on Pipe Tobacco?

I guess they'll be putting hazard warning labels next on motor vehicles and heavy industrial machinery and processing factories, not to mention oil distilleries and electrical power plants. Wait... shouldn't they have started with those first and foremost? Do I detect a highly selective...

    Peterson tobaccos

The only Peterson baccie that I have in my cellar is an unopened tin of Connoisseurs Choice that I got over a year ago. I have just a few aros and they're way back of my rotation schedule, so I don't know when I'll get around to sampling this one. Read some good reviews about it though.

Coffee cuts cancer risk significantly *New Study*

I hope the tests that led to those results were not performed exclusively a the Folgers Lab. I drink lots of coffee and would love to believe that the study is reliable. I also learned that they found that five cups a day keeps Alzheimers away. I also learned that it keeps Alzheimers away...

    Science Fiction

I read Theodore Sturgeon back in the early sixties and have never managed to get two of his books out of my mind: The Dreaming Jewels and More Than Human (alt. title The Synthetic Man), both of them belong more, perhaps, in the straight fantasy genre than traditional science fiction. He was...

    Italian pipes for aromatics only?

I have several pipes made by Sasquatch, but I haven't been able to find any Canadian blends to smoke in them. So I feed them VaPers, Scottish blends, and straight Virginias.
