What to Feed a Wide Mouth Bowl

Thanks to all! It's supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I'll be doing some ponderin' in the cellar until then.

What to Feed a Wide Mouth Bowl

I recently got caught up in what seems tobe a current wave of popularity for the Savinelli 320 KS (Author), so I ordered one tonight with a fairly deep chamber (for that type of pipe - 1.41) and a wide mouth (which is usual - .93) Just wondering if any of the Brothers with a 320 KS (or a pot...

    Need Advice!

None other than Mike McNeil of McClellands has been quoted as saying that , basically, once flakes are dried out you just can't re-hydrate them back to their former selves. I tried it out of desperation with a can of forgotten Dark Star foolishly opened and left in the can and hidden away...

    The beginning of the end?

You are indeed fortunate to have a local tobacconist, Geoff. Our last one cleared out at least 10 years ago.

    The beginning of the end?

Even on the Internet Samuel & Gawith have been mostly "currently not in stock", along with much of Rattray's, "key" Dan blends, even Peterson ones for pete's sake. Many more that escape me at the moment, but it's getting very frustrating shopping for tobacco these past months.

    A Joao Reis

HA! You beat me to the punch! I was going to buy that pipe, hesitated, went back and saw it SOLD and my heart sank. This was by no means the first time I've experienced this with some of Trevor's pipes. You'd think I would have learned by now to just JUMP and not be encumbered by the thinking...

    A rarity for Trevor Talbert

I've got a half-dozen of his pipes and every one of them smokes like a dream. AND they look great as well. I can't for the life of me figure out why he doesn't charge more for some of the truly first-class pipes he crafts.

Please Help Me Pick Out Best Peretti Burley Blends ForCobs

I've come across this name here and there for years, so I thought I'd cast the net over the Brotherhood and make my appeal before ordering. As always, your help is most appreciated. -s13

    Tobacco Switcheroo in Cobs?

I've got a cob I smoked less than 10 bowls of Orlik Racking Green in - an Aro, and another I test tasted Drucquer & Sons Red Lion -a Perique Blend- about a half-dozen times in. I was wondering if there would be any troubles encountered if I were to use these cobs now for heavy Burley blends...

    Next blend, next lovat.

The closest you got here in the USA is the good ol' "53" in a Rocky or Donegal finish, of which I have one of each. Truth be told, close but no cigar.  That Fisherman is the cat's meow.

    I was Speechless.......

Sir Wizard, Bad back and chronic sciatica makes a guy take any help he can get, 'specially when moving boxes stuffed with heavy jars of Tobak down a shaky flight of cellar stairs. At 64, the rookie moniker is long gone in the wind along with my vanity, pride and animal grace.

    I was Speechless.......

Well, today I promised I'd finish cleaning up the messiest corner of my library which entailed bringing down to the cellar all the rest of the boxes of tobacco tins and stacked Ball/Mason jars of tobacco to finally put them all with the rest of my stash on the old bookcase which was brought down...

    Melting Pipe Cake.

Yes indeed, upon finishing a bowl I always take a paper towel or tissue and wipe the top of the bowl which invariably wipes the inside top cake as well. Lotsa soft cake coming off with each swipe, which is fine.

    Peter Stokkebye tobacco

Oooooh, Monsieur Banjo, you have hit upon 3 Stokkebye tobaccos that are special favorites of mine, a standout being the Luxury Bullseye Flake. Not a week goes by where I don't enjoy at least 2 or 3 bowls of that, all in the beautiful Trever Talbert bent acorn pipe that's exclusively dedicated...

    Is it asking too much

Man o man, you've hit on my Number 1 pet peeve RE: pipes, ESPECIALLY when it happens to be an artisan pipe. Nothing makes me as batty as when I'm enjoying a nice smoke but feel the need to soak up a little moisture and CAN'T because I can't get a blasted pipe cleaner through to the bowl!

About Corn Cobs, Their Stems And Their Taste

Does anyone smoke an Artison pipe like thia

With a length of almost 8 inches and a weight of nearly 5 ounces, seems like the perfect clencher while you're working under the hood or, better yet, under the chassis of that classic car you're restoring. Translation: I just don't get it......

About Corn Cobs, Their Stems And Their Taste

When I researched semois I found that Tabac Manil seems to be the main source of this stuff, but oh! so many different variations, e.g. La Brumeuse, Le Petit Robin, Reserve du Patron etc.... Which would you suggest as a starter for this apparently luscious tobacco?

Dr. Grabow Royal Duke Smooth Billiard

I was just going through my "pipes - used and otherwise unused" box and I picked up the one in the title. It's never been used and I recalled it was once encased in a plastic and cardboard showcase thing along with filters and pipe tools and whatever else you can imagine. It was given to me by...

Replacement for McClelland 5100 Red Cake

Try McCranie's First Light, suggested by a Brother here months ago. It ain't bad, I think you'll be pretty pleased. Not McClelland's pleased, but c'mon, heaven on earth has been taken away from us, after all.
