    Bought a new brush

OK, I can totally relate to what you say. I am also a fly tyer and as such we collect every and any natural fur/hair/feathers that we might come across. So bad that I used to gather road kill animals and preserve the hides. LOL I haven't tied in several years but did so for 25 years or more. So...

    SHPC VR Blend

I believe that is correct. They have dropped the SHPC (Sherlock Holmes Pipe Club) designation and just renamed it VR blend.

    Bought a new brush

Thanks for the update on the new brush. Sounds like I'll be following your lead and in a couple weeks I'll be ordering one of the same. I'm way overdue for a new brush, if you saw how worn my old one is you'd laugh, but alas, it was my grandfathers and being that I'm 68 years old you can imagine...

    Bought a new brush

OK Monbla, Have you received your new brush and if so how does it lather up for you? I'm in need of another brush, as I've been using my grandfather's old Badger brush for 20+ years.!!! Pretty worn out but still works ok. In the past PB had recommended a seller of some nice brushes and I'm going...

Any Brothers use or enjoy vintage shotguns?

Jumping in a bit late on this thread but Yes. I am a shooter/collector of small gauge doubles. Ansley Fox Sterlingworth 20 bore, LC Smith 20 bore and others. I do not have any so called high grade guns, more field grade and utilitarian doubles that I use for upland bird hunting. And I partake in...

how do Mr Craig Ashton pipes compare?

So no one has responded to this post. Yikes. I'll put in my two cents here in that case. I LOVE Jim Craig's Ashton pipes and have many. They smoke no differently from Bill Taylor's handwork. He uses the same oil curing method and does everything the same as Bill did. I have had over 60 Ashton's...

    West Coast Pipe Show 2015

I'll be going to the show as usual. This is a yearly event for me and wouldn't miss it. It's a bit of a haul from Boston but I'll spend a week there. Arriving Wednesday and leaving Tuesday. PLEASE stop by the table and say HI unless I run into you beforehand. Wish more fellow Brothers could make...

    Elephant & Castle

What a great link Monbla. I had smoked a lot of this many years ago and really enjoyed it, but the blend I did smoke (Roanoke) was very bright Virginia and would bite like hell if you didn't sip it slowly. Also Deerstalker was another that was amazingly delicious. It brings a lot of $$ now on...

    Some thoughts on Dunhill tobaccos

If that's the case, I may have to replenish my dwindling stock with some new Orlik made Aperitif. Thanks for your input.

    Some thoughts on Dunhill tobaccos

wsblevins, First of all welcome to BoB there's a great group of guys/gals here and I believe you will enjoy your visits to the site. Nice carved meer you are smoking by the way. As for Dunhill blends, I haven't smoked Aperitif in quite a while, it's time to revisit the blend. If I can recall is...

    Some thoughts on Dunhill tobaccos

Dix, I like your reply and expertise on tobacco knowledge. And myself being a puffer that enjoys almost any pipe blend at different times during the year can relate to enjoying a good burley as well as some of the English blends. Cheers.

A RANT ABOUT "NEW" PIPE CARVERS

Skeet at the Holiday pipe extravaganza. ALL RIGHT. I'll be there. Sounds like a doubly good time. Pipes, tobacco, guns and ammo. LOL.... not to mention some great food and libations. AC

    Spinal Implant.

PB, good luck with the upcoming surgery. When pain controls your life you have to make a choice which you have done and it will be for the better. Today's technology in medicine is amazing and I look forward to your good news in eliminating your painful situation. Prayers are with you.

    Some thoughts on Dunhill tobaccos

My first experience in smoking Dunhill tobaccos was in 1970 and what a revelation. It opened up a whole new world of leaf for me and to this day can still recall the flavors and aromas of those blends. London Mixture is still my favorite but recently I ordered a couple tins of the new Baby's...

A RANT ABOUT "NEW" PIPE CARVERS

Sean, the above quote would be my reply as well. And like good friend Lee Von Erck told a roomful of guests at a recent pipe show while delivering a speech. Directed at the many younger new pipe makers. "Don't give up your day job". LOL I have experienced the same situation as you have...
