I spent the last 10 days with family after the wedding of some close friends and what did I find when I returned? Santa had been by my house! He included this wonderful note and a fun poem to boot!
Here's the loot. Talk about a humbling gift box. I'm blown away!

PD, what an evening! I'm so glad that no one got hurt and that you were able to help that woman in whatever situation she was in. I assume that the knife she had on her was for self defense, but maybe that's the optimist in me.
Considering that there was a break-in at my new home before I moved...
I'm with you on that bucket list wish, Dutch. I spent a summer in Ithaca, NY cliff jumping as a great reward after a year of working to overcome my fear of heights. To date, there is no summer I remember more fondly. :)
It's awesome to hear about all this weight loss and healthy habit building! I'm working on the same thing right now. For all of my adult life I've fluctuated between 240 and 285. This is after I lost 100lbs in 6 months in college dieting and playing Raquetball for 2 hours a day for six months...
Lol! You guys, Werner Mummert is not a new pipe maker. He's been making pipes for nearly 30 years. His work is simply new to the American market. Until I spoke with him at the Chicago show, I didn't know that he'd been making pipes for so long either. He's a super nice guy. Even though his work...
I think that self censoring, to a degree, is ok. It's normal and healthy and helps us avoid unnecessary altercations every day.
If you're self censoring to the point where you're no longer representing yourself but someone that you think others want you to be then you've stepped into bad self...
I look forward to telling my grand kids that when I was young, we used to drive our cars, carry our cell phones in a pocket, it would take us almost 5 hours to fly from Chicago to San Francisco, and a coke cost $1.50.
They'll laugh as they zip around in their Google Maps self navigating and...
Hey guys,
This last weekend was the Chicago Pipe Show and what a show it was! I want to thank everyone who attended for making this my best Chicago Show yet. I love this community and my experience at this show embodies all the reasons why. Thanks everyone!
I've never been hassled by the police, but people do tend to look at me slantwise when I'm walking down the street smoking my pipe. However, the first response I often hear when people learn that I smoke a pipe is, "What kind of pipe?"
Beautiful companion you've got there, Greg.
In Chicago today, it was in the mid-40s and the first time it's been above freezing since late December. What a relief! Supposed to be back in the single digits in a few days though. Winter ain't over yet!
