Hi folks,

Whats the point (aside from the obvious) for a 9mm pipe? Why does it seem that the Germans are bent on making their pipes 9mm? Do they all inhale when they smoke?

And a serious question, do you need the adapter to smoke a filter pipe or can you leave it open? I have stayed away from 9mm pipes since I started collecting but recently picked one up.

Thanks!

i have two pipes that are 9mm's... no problem in smoking them without a filter... :)
...
i also do the same.. :) remove the filter and story finished.. :)

I have some 9mm pipes and never use the filters. You can take the filter out and smoke it that way or buy an adapter for it that narrows the draft hole. Either way.

One of my best smokers is a 9mm pipe smoked without a filter. I've never used it with a filter, so I can't compare...

I have and regularly smoke several filter pipes. I almost always use a filter (balsa or charcoal). It's what I like, for those pipes. Without a filter, I would think it would act somewhat like a Kirsten, with a large air chamber mid-stream that would cool and condense out moisture (somewhat) from the smoke. I've smoked them without anything in the chamber, with an adapter, and with filters, and I prefer the filters.

Natch
