Nice pipes Wiz   I especially like the billiard.

The magnitude of my pipe collection is limited by my inexperience and inability to make my own.

Very nice indeed, Wiz. I admire your craftsmanship.

OW, Outstanding!!! Perfect billiard bowl which is extremely difficult to achieve, but you are spot on! My kind of pipe!! Perfect wood to finish with Bee's wax and mineral oil mixture. I've seen some of your other wood projects, always a pleasure seeing pictures from a craftsman of your caliber. Enjoy them both for many years

KEEP ON PUFFING!!!

Nice look'en Billiard OW, looks like you have the knack. ;)
Just copying pictures of real pipe carver's work. It's like when I fly fish, bring tying stuff to 'match the hatch'. It was also my first foray into actual briar. Thought I would start with a basic shape... The pipe burns tobacco the same as most other pipes do. Thanks for the compliments!

Even coping something isn't easy without some skill set.
I can set 5 people down with a pencil and paper and ask them to draw what is in front of them and each one will come out looking different and most hardly identifiable. I would say it's harder to copy something and make it look truly like the original then it is just to make one from memory and have it come out correctly. ;)

Great to see you back in the saddle Ozzie. At some point we have to talk about a Horn commission. Black Walnut I believe.

Cheers,

RR
Yuppers! I still have that collection of blanks sitting here with pencil marks all over them. :lol!:

Beautiful! Do you turn the stems yourself?
The straight one I did make from rod stock. The bent one is a prefab from Missouri Meerschaum. Reasonably finished, just took a bit of work to gloss it up and take the casting edges off. The ten bucks I spent on it saved a lot of stress...
