So i was with my wife at a health food store, and found some alder smoked sea salt.
I was going to use it on ribs in the smoker. Has any one ever tryed or heard of this?

Arky, I use it during the depths of winter when it's just too cold to fire up the grill and I have a hankering for smoky goodness from the kitchen. It allows me to get the smoky flavor without resorting to liquid smoke. Chipotle peppers are another option to ramp up the smoky flavor. I've also heard of it being used to rim a margarita glass. It is pretty smoky though so I advise treading lightly at first.
