It never fails to amaze me how different two pipes can smoke.

I have here a beautiful Dr Grabow Omega which I use very seldom because it's but a so so smoker

I also have an old Parker Super Russet which I adore because it's an excellent, super smoker :D

I've loaded both pipes this morning with Pete's Irish Oak and smoked them side by side.

I'm going to replace the Omega with a commissioned bulldog from Goussard Pipes!

I "need" the 'dog to fill my rack for 50 pipes after I've given the Omega to someone who only smoke a pipe for the sake of smoking a pipe

Yep! I can agree. I don't know if it has anything to do with a persons taste buds
or chemical composition but, even in higher grade pipes I find some better then others.
Maybe the regional briar that there made of cause most but, not all Algerian Briar has
a bad taste for me. And some others as well, for instance I really love my older Mastro De Paja's but, one particular Radice I bought new has never smoked worth a dang and its well broken in now. Of course I do find it sometimes takes the right tobacco blend to make a pipe sing.
So many things play a roll in a good smoke I feel, like weather, moisture of tobacco, packing, health (having a cold, etc.) and even mood and stress levels. So is it really the pipe or just something else?
