So I'm about to light up a pipe and enjoy the annular eclipse. I'm curious about how many other brothers will be doing the same.

Just remember: Don't stare at the sun! :sunny:

I hope the eclipse showed as well as it was supposed to for you! Was it a 'ring of fire'?

Unfortunately no ring of fire. More like a crescent of fire. Unfotunatley the sun set just as things were getting really good. I ran and climbed some stuff just so I could get a better look before it vanished beneath the horizon. I took a few awful photos. I'll see if I can get some posted.

Some shots from just north of Reno... sadly, with a cheap camera...

...through X-ray film:

Shadow, me, pipe, circle shadows... (Balkan Flake in the cob!) :D

Sat outside with Draedgerbil and his wife enjoying a pipe and a cocktail (and later a nice beer) while watching the eclipse as the clouds permitted.

A very enjoyable evening and a great solar event. Though we did not get the full eclipse here we did get some great shadows through the trees as well.

Pretty cool pics. We didn't see much, considering the spotty cloud cover. Instead we stayed inside playing Puerto Rico.
