Maybe I'm just the kind of guy that other guys don't bomb. And that's fine, I've got a lot of blends and gear and briars and such around the corral here. More stuff than I need or will likely use. And I would always prefer that guys just starting out get the goods cause it just makes so much more sense. But til now, I don't think I ever really been hit really hard.

But if there's such a thing a karma, I guess it finally caught up to me as I just got hit BIG TIME. Hit out of the blue with something I truely think is amazing, on SO many levels. Nuke level strike...with something I think is arguably the finest of it's kind, far over and above by miles and miles...and that I deeply lusted after with very little hope of it ever being realized...until today when someone from this site did something unthinkable, unforgetable and which of course is quite undeserved.

The photo below isn't the exact item, I'll eventually replace it with real ones. But a verbal description wouldn't even come close to doing it justice.

So...behold...the generosity of someone among you, misplaced, but accepted with stunned humility.

It sounds like these bombings have you paranoid brother. I have been worried that I'd get hit, but not even BH has my actual address over here so I am safe. I assure you I am not in on the bombings, though I wish I was, especially with the paranoia it is causing. :twisted: Only people I have sent to I have identified myself (Rob and Monbla, which they posted about). Sorry to disappoint, but this is one I wish I had been involved in.

Differences do exist, and I think that future POY's will look more like mine, which is similar to the one shown below...more than to the #1 pipe that Brewdude got. Mine has the non-rusticated briar shank running all the way round...and the crest of the bowl is a shade taller, more rounded, and is evenly covered with an amazing, well, what I call 'flame grain'...which may or may not be. I'll try to get some shots up tomorrow, but below...the one on the right of course, is more what this one resembles...and the color (if it's not just the temp difference of my laptop's monitor, is much more reddish than what I see here or on Mark's site:

Just to let you know...I have already inaugurated the bowl with a 2/3 load of Patton's Oriental Dusk (a great favorite). It performed as well or even better than other highly favored briars already well broken in. This was quite a surprise. Patton's blends are quite dry compared to most others and I think this helped in the fact that it burned clean and dry all the way to the bottom. Also, the briar inside the bowl is barely discolored. Good stuff, to be sure.
