Since recently aquiring and really liking their Royal Blend tobacco I have decided to get some more and give one of their pipes a try as well. It's not like I need another pipe with 80+ to choose from but their Bent Bulldog in the Straight Grain seconds grade looks very appealling!! Have any of you folks had experience with their pipes and if so what are your impressions?

Also a fan of royal, picked up a budget pipe from there about two years ago - a rusticated black pot with yellow saddle bit - great smoker - one of my favorites...

The pipe in question is actually made by FGT Enterprises aka Edward's! Its Peretti's house pipe with Peretti's stamped on it. You can't go wrong. McCranie's (Dr. Mac), Iwan Ries, and Georgetown Tobacco sell these as well. They are hidden gems if you ask me. Check out my website, I have several that are apart of my smoking rotation. www.otcpipes.com

I have a Peretti bent bulldog in my rotation. Paid $65 bucks for it and it's one of my best smokers. Its got a wide shallowish bowl...I usually smoke flakes in it. The only negative to this pipe is that the bit is a little thick...very minor issue. Highly reccomended.

I have a large billiard bought in person from "customer service central," it is heavy as hammer, but a good smoker.

I've smoked L J Peretti pipes for over 40 years and they are some of my favorite smokes. Can't go wrong for the price and grain.

I've got two...a Prince and a Dublin (that I call, the Pauper, just for fun). The Prince is among my best pipes and does flake like a dream...the Pauper, not so much...but I think it will last forever. Both were in the neighborhood of $65 and worth it.

Well I got my bent bulldog Straight Grain second from Peretti's and my order of tobacco on Saturday morning and have now smoked 4 bowls of the Oxford Flake in it. I thought I'd break it in with this all Virginia flake as it seems Virginias seem to build a cake faster than my English/Balkan blends do. Probably due to the higher sugar content in the all Virginia blends. It IS almost IDENTICAL to the two bent bulldog Edwards I have been smoking since I bought them back in the early '70s. The Edwards are both fill-free cross-grains and this Peretti is called a Straight Grain though it has more of an appearance similar to the Flame Grains on my old Erica Fiamme's. Maybe that is why it is graded a "second" ? There are no pits, fills or anything I can see that wouldn't classify it as a "perfect" to me :p Smoking wise, It has been a nice clean smoking pipe so far and with it's bowl shape and size, seems to really allow this Oxford Flake to sing :p Looks like I may be adding to my pipe accumilation whether I need it or not! Here's a pic from Peretti's site of the model I got.

Beautiful pipe, nice classic shape for sure. I'm sure it will become one of your favorites, and breaking it in with that great virginia flake is a super idea.
Enjoy.
