This is the pipe has a bit of a shady history, I actually threw it in the bin but Lea got it out again without telling me, she gave it back to me yesterday, she forgot she had retrieved it from the bin, she's a marvellous woman. Anyway, as I am not so angry with the situation with this pipe I decided to give it a go and try to turn it into something like the pipe Lea's Dad gave me.

I don't have any pictures of it that I can find before I got started on it in the first place, but it looked like this:

The bowl was cracked when I took off the original coating, this was when I first got this pipe, I topped it then rusticated it and tried to make something of it back then instead of making a nuisance of myself by sending it back to the site I purchased it from but felt so depressed by the whole affair I couldn't see through the darkness to find it in me to keep going with it, should have sent the damn thing back turns out, but I wont get into that discussion.

So yesterday I reworked the stem using files and wet & Dry paper to make it a bit like a table leg stem, I didn't want it to be the same as the other and I think it's suitably different, works for me anyway. I wanted the bowl rim to be a little more elaborate than the other one so I filed out a much deeper and more pronounced groove around the rim trim, then of course rounded off the bowl top.

I only had one colour dye and god alone only knows what colour it was, there was quite literally just enough left to get this pipe done, I figured it was all but gone but there was with blessings just enough.

This is how the pipe looks now:

I ended up re-working this pipe to make it more suitable for a trade with Brenden, he liked it as it was prior to these changes but the way I made it look with about an additional 4 hours of work totally sold it for him, I actually really liked this pipe but, needs must when the devil drives and all that jazz.

Wow! That's an incredible transformation.

Actually I liked it with the Rustication, but the end result is quite nice. My complements on the stem work - a very nice modification with a great looking stem in the end. I kinda like the 'table leg' effect.

Thanks Rob, yes, there are aspect of the pipe I prefered prior to re-working it myself, the rustication was crap but I enjoyed the look of the stem with the larger Briar surface to the stummel, I also liked the groove just below the bowl rim, but the re-worked version has merits I enjoy as well. :)

WOW! I LOVE the end transformation! That is a pipe I would be glad to own! Nice work. :D
What a great response, many thanks Jack, I feel all giddy now. ;)

Odd you should make such a statement regarding being happy to own such a pipe, I was going to re-work a load of the Parker pipes but had a minor financial catastrophe. I sold my old silver jewellery a while back and made £800, but the Mrs had it stolen from her taking the cash to the bank and that put an end to a few things we were going to do, including the purchase of a bunch of Parker pipes to re-work, I am still really gutted about it all to be honest, but that's life for you huh!

Ah man, what a shame! My wife had her purse stolen from her several years ago. It put us in a similar situation. Boy would I liked to have gotten my hands on the thief! But yea, you're right, such is life... hope that guy got his straightened out at some point. :|
