Never found any of these out in the woods myself, but local grocery store got some in, as well as the more common winter chanterelle (yellow feet) and some hedge hogs as well.  Had to buy some of the blacks to see how they differ from the golden and the white chanterelles.  Will edit post to include my findings once Ive had a chance to try the black ones.
Earlier this year, they had Matsutakes but didn't get any of those.
 
Black Chanterelles are outstanding fare, the grow through 3 seasons here in ME and we happily gobble them up.
