I just opened a tin of kendal cream flake where the rim of the tin is lined in a dark goo/tar residue and the sides of the flake are caked with the stuff. What is it? Kendal cream? Anyone had this w sam g tins?

Some tins are pretty moist. I often see some tar-like substance especially around the edge of the lid. I don't worry about it.

I agree with Carlos. I opened a tin of 1792 a while back that was really gunked up. No biggie, the tobacco smoked fine.

Thanks guys I was thinking it was some gunk from the 200 year old machines

It probably is.  :D

Here's to hoping they never clean their machines.
I think grease might actually be the topping on 1792!!
Mouse grease

I would decant that Kendall Cream Flake a bit. It'll work out better in the long run.
