Has anyone here ever bought a pipe from the Danish Pipe Shop? If so, could you please take pity on me and walk me through the steps? I thought I hadit made until the curre cy exchange looked less than what I had gotten from online. Also, a BIG stumbling block: Delivery issues (and ensuing costs).

Many, MANY Thanks - S13

I bought a pipe from them earler this year, and I've purchased from them in the past. Good shop, good product, good service, no complaints.

Their pipes are listed for sale in euros, their shipping charges are in euros. Take the total of the purchase price plus shipping and convert it from euros to dollars (just type into google "convert X euros to dollars), then deduct 20% for the VAT deduction (a tax only EU countries have to pay, they deduct it for US sales). This will be roughly your actual price, there may be a small variance as the banks do a real time currency conversion at the time of sale. The shop is trustworthy, they wont mess you about to make an extra buck.

Shipping is a cost concern. If possible always ask them to ship via postal service rather than courier. I believe they offer both options unless the item is rather valuable. They usually only send the high dollar stuff via courier (Fedex, DHL) for their own protection. If sent via postal service it will take a week or so (at least it did to California) and it will almost always go through customs with no hiccups or import duties owed. If sent via courier the courier will charge you for customs fees plus an extra fee for brokering the parcel through customs.

If you are unsure just email them, tell them what item you want and how you want it shipped and ask the total cost in dollars, they will give you a straight answer.

I thought you deducted VAT from just the item cost before adding that to postage to get the total. In other words, I didn't think postage was assessed a Value Added Tax.

Interesting. Denmark VAT is 20% (according to PD). UK's VAT is 25%.

Currently a Euro is $1.13 USD (rounded up) so they're VERY close in value.

I've also heard good things about this vendor over the years.

Good luck.

Yo smo

I've had great experience with the Danish Pipe Shop. Paypal makes the whole transaction painless. Wonderful tobaccos and great pipes there, and the Euro has been so cheap compared to USD that I've been partaking quite a bit.

Put the dog's name on the "from" tag; maybe good for a laugh and will get you out of trouble!
