Ok so I am an old, (older, oldish??) pipe smoker, on and off for the past almost 40 years. The first smoke ever to cross my lips was Borkum Riff whiskey in a clay lined plastic billiard back about 1970. Gave it up for cigarettes, took it up again in the early 90's, then quit pipes for cigars until about 5 years ago. Been a 1 or 2 bowl per week smoker until very recently when I have been finding a bowl a day or even 2 seems to better fit my needs. Pure Virginia and Vapers are my favorites, but a few English blends - especially Dunhills - are also in my rotation. I have tried to smoke some aromatic and drugstore blends as well but just can't finish a bowl.
Anyway, I discovered this great website and am looking forward to reading and discussing all things pipe and pipe tobacco related. I still collect and occasionally smoke cigars and even a better-grade cigarette, but the pipe is where my heart is.
I hope to be posting about some new pipe acquisitions soon as well, as I have about 20 pipes in my Ebay watch list. Coming originally from Canada I own and have continued to purchase a nice collection of Brighams, but have recently expanded out to Pete's, some older Kaywoodies, and just received my first Dunhill. Of course, a few Missouri Meerschaums are always around as well. Sorry to say I no longer have one of the clay-lined plastic pipes I started with but may run across one some day.
Looking forward to making everyone's acquaintance.
