Alright guys, I gotta ask:

When people refer to a cherry wood poker, is this a style/shape? or is it made out of cherry?

Thanks in Advance.

hi TO,
I would say that you are correct on both counts. It would be a poker shape made of cherrywood.Hundreds have been made over many decades by Ropp. They can usually be had for little money. I've never smoked cherrywood pipes, so I can't describe the smoking qualities.

I always thought that "cherry wood" referred to a variation on the classic poker shape ie with some kind of angle or bend to the stem. Shows ya what I know...
Trout Bum, you are correct. A poker has a straight stem, while a cherrywood has a bend, usually about a 1/8th bend, but some have more.

Ropp made pipes in a cherrywood shape out of cherry wood.

My favorite cherrywood pipes are the old Charatan 284 and 484 shapes. The difference is the size of the pipe, with the 484 being larger.

I was recently lucky enough to complete a 7 day set of each in various grades and finishes and they are great smokers.
