Being a newbie, I have absolutely no idea if this is just a ridiculous question or not, but as a saxophone player, it's always important to keep the cork greased, for the ease of attaching and removing the mouthpiece, to keep a good seal and to keep the cork moist to prevent cracking or flaking. Does the same apply for maintaining my calabash? I don't see the harm...

Is it a Bb pipe? :joker:

Sorry I just had to say that.. Sorry I don't know the answer to your question though...

I use a smidgeon Wesson cooking oil on my gourd calabash gasket. Have been doing it for 30 years to this pipe so it must work.

I'm sorry, but this thread title made me laugh a little, only because I could see it also being one of those obfuscated, creative titles on the "dirty" part of Craigslist that are oh-so entertaining.

That's all I have to contribute here. As you were. 8)

Well you know Kyle, I was tempted to explain putting Crisco on one's lips prevents the bit on the gourd from becoming oxidized. I refrained thinking you would make a big freakin deal about it.

I'm going to give that a shot then, I'm sure either or would work, the cooking oil I just happen to have close by at the moment. Thanks. As for the possible innuendos both of you see in this thread, no comment!
