Corn cob maintenance?

I am wondering if other cob smokers perform any maintenance on their cobs once in awhile. Do you scrub the shank out with some pure grain alcohol? Do you ream out the inside of the bowl? I am curious because I am already ordering a "forever stem" for my lone cob to "spiff" it up and I am wondering if a good cleaning would make it smoke all the better?

Scott, A light reaming just line other pipes is about all my bowl gets. And the occasional bristle pipe cleaner dipped in bourbon for the shank. I've got a MM Country Gentlemen that is over five years old, and I smoke it a fair amount during the summer. On it's third shank, though.
