Crazy evening today. Had some stranger come to the door, Lisa answered it. He was asking for Stacy, then asked for weed, then asked for food. Bout this time I went downstairs to retrieve a handgun, the dude was odd and would not leave.

Lisa had closed and locked the door, and the guy was still looking in the window, so I locked and loaded, safety off, finger along the trigger guard and told him to leave, or I would shoot him in the face.

Thankfully he finally left, had he reached into his jacket or made a move for a weapon, I would have splattered his brains across the porch.

Cops were called and a report was filed. Time for a smoke!

Crazy! Glad you are alright. Hopefully the stranger gets the help he needs.

Whoa, lets hope he doesn't revisit. I don't know if I'd splatter his brains but, I'd surely take out a knee cap and then decide. :suspect:

He seemed altered, no idea from what. When I went downstairs, Lisa told him "my husband is getting a gun, and he is a nut job". The guy was pretty unfazed with the implied threat, or the gun in the face.  Just an odd encounter. Marijuana just went "legal" up here a couple weeks back, and the policeman that arrived said there have been a lot more home invasions and odd encounters lately. I am just going to be more aware of my surroundings and practice good situational awareness. Best part is good old training kicked in, and I just kept calm with breathing exercises and my gun hand was steady.

Cripes John, that could have had a tragic outcome. So pleased to hear you and your family are safe though. These situations always make for interesting reading for us chaps from Blighty. As you know hand guns are illegal this side of the pond. I'm with Cart. Rule of minimum force. If I had to pull the trigger it would have been a leg first. ..

Glad everything worked out without splatter.

Get a dog. Big dog. Even crazy people don't like getting chewed on.

Disturbing event indeed John, glad the guy chose to clear off before things got out of hand Buddy!

The guy was obviously stoned. No big deal. I would have given him food and sent him away. And who's Stacey by the way?

Shhh...   Lisa is not supposed to know about Stacy.
:lol!:

FM: Glad the situation was at least temporarily resolved, and hopefully he can't find his way back

Glad everything turned out OK and hope there will be no further incident.

Glad you didn't have to pull the trigger. Clean-up is a bitch, and you never get it all.

So true Rich. Brains get into every nook and cranny and they're almost impossible to get out of brick and mortar without a toothbrush.

In all seriousness, do be careful my friend. In the event he was casing the place, now he knows you own firearms. Hopefully he was so whacked out that he won't remember where he went.

I congratulate you on having the inteligence you showed in how you handled the situation. Down here the attitude is to shoot first then we'll figure it out after we've shot 'em !!

AMEN DUTCH!!! I can't help but laugh every time I see a dirtbag getting blown away. I'm a shoot first kind of guy. Hell, twice my neighbors have called me about situations similar to fatman's before calling the cops, because they know I will respond faster.
