It is 29.00 buy it now

I would not with good conscience tell you to purchase or not purchase either of these even though the price seems fair enough.
Ya never know how a pipe like these are going to preform and I certainly wouldn't want you to buy a bad pipe because of what I said.
I seldom buy of eBay anymore, getting to be a nut house of no sense bidders. I would try retailers on the internet, shop, shop and shop
till you can get the idea of who's high and who's not, then pick out a pipe from a well known maker. Many places have a layaway plan also,
I know I use it quit often. So do your research and shop around, it'll pay in the end. ;)

Oh, and I'm not talking about brand new pipes, many retailers in pipes sell Estates also and that's what I buy.
I think to date I've only bought 3 new pipes in 15 years or more.

Yeah, im iffy on it just because it is ebay. However, I had heard good things about the kaywoodie pipes and I have never seen a meerschaum quite like that one. I was concerned with the condition of the outside of the meerschaum as it looks to have been handled roughly. However, the kaywoodie looks good and I think with a bit of elbow grease could look really nice and be a good smoker.

I did buy a pipe from Mattia and am looking forward to getting it soon. I prefer to buy from a Brother before Ebay.

You really need to be concerned on what the inside of that pipe looks like.  It would behoove you to do some research on cleaning estates.

I've not bought many estates, but I've staid away from e-prey sellers and gone the route of some of the better known estate sellers such as smokingpipes, Vicking pipes ( brother Nathan Mattia) and Shiney Pipes . Unless you are REALLY knowledgeable about what you are buying and KNOW the sellers past track record with estates I'd spend a bit MORE from one of the reputable and recommended sellers 'till you get a few more pipe purchases under your belt. JMHO

You won't be disappointed. I have several pipes from Mattia and I'm bidding on another one from him now.  :D

Thirty bucks won't break the bank; if you like the pipes go for it. They may be fine, and at any rate, would be good "starters" to gain some experience in restoring estate pipes.

Amen

For $30.00, it is worth it to find out what you got.

Could be pressed meer or block....block is preferred.

Not sure what your budget is, or if you are only looking for a meerschaum, but a quick search on ebay showed several estate Stanwell's with buy it now  starting around $60.  I have three estate Stanwell's and they all smoke great and are a good value both new and used.

The Kaywoodies I had were but so-so smokers. I traded 3 of them for a bit of tobacco.

If the meerschaum is in the shape that it appears to be in, and the shank is not cracked or tenon broken, then $29.00 is worth that pipe alone. The Kaywoodie, in my opinion is just an extra as that model is fairly common. Of course that is just my opinion.
