Hello fellow brothers of the briar.

I'm Swedish but are now living in Barcelona, Spain since May. Before that I spent five years as a photographer in London. I actually started smoking pipe about 16 years ago but gave up and rolled cigarettes instead up until this summer when I dusted of my first pipe, realized it was hundred times better than cigarettes and bought myself seven new pipes within a week. Now I'm enjoying the fairly limited but very cheap pipe tobaccos Spain has to offer. Unfortunately they don't have many of the English or American classics here but they have plenty of Danish and Swedish tobaccos, Borkum Riff seems to be one of the most sold around here. I normally stick to Dunhill or Capstan but still wander of and try new tins when I find them.

That's all for now.

welcome claes. pronounced like santa claus? we needed a swedish spaniard! (too many dutch running around!)

Welcome and I have not been here all that long either, but have found it to be a great site and lots of friendly people. Also plenty with a bunch of knowledge.

I too use to smoke pipes back in the 1970's mostly and quit in 1980, started back about 5 months back and enjoying it more than ever. Maybe has something to do with finding Virgina tobacco's!

English speaking Swede in Spain? Now that's confusing!

Welcome to BoB!
Makes me wonder. If you have dinner with a friend in Madrid is it okay go Dutch? 8)

Welcome Claes!

Welcome Claes, here in South Africa we are in the same situation as far as getting quality American and English tobacco from our local merchants. Borkum Riff and MacBaren are about all you can find and of course the crap from the Swedish match company. The situation almost made me give up the Briar until I discovered the BoB... the rest is history. :D

Welcome Claes!
Depends on whether the establishment allows pipe smoking!

Hi Claes, and welcome. I'm new here myself but I've already gotten a lot from browsing the old posts. Seven pipes in a week?! You'll have to post pics of your pipes on the PAD (pipe acquisition disorder) section.

Hi Claes,

Not much tobaccos in Spain but a great carver, Dirk Claessen, who lives and work near Benidorm.

Best,
Gilles
