I now have:

1) 50 Briars plus one very small but smokable Grabow Westbrook
2) 3 Falcons
3) 7 MM cobs
4) 1 Kirsten
5) 1 Meerschaum
6) 2 MM Hardwoods

If I use two pipes per day, it will take a month to work my way through them all.

Enough is enough

I remember when I only had that many, ah yes the days when they'd all fit on only 2 pipe racks. And I was cussing then that I didn't have enough.

How many pipes does one need?

All you can handle, plus one.  :)

Right so, well you don't need those nasty Falcons or that evil Meerschaum so send them my way and I shall destroy them safely and slowly over the coming years, wouldn't want you to suffer any.  :lol!:

Congrats on a fine pipe collection Buddy, PAD is never over.  :affraid:

JUST 50 ? Not enough!! Get busy getting MORE, MORE,MORE

lucky you... the wife has limited my pipe stable to 9.. She just okay'd the purchas of another pipe, so that will be 10. So, ive been focusing on my cellar.. to make sure I have plenty for when we cant buy it anyomre. If my better half saw the tobacco bill for this month....... need I say more?

I did not plan to buy any pipes this year.  I want to build a nice stock of tobacco which will cost me a lot of money. With our exchance rate at R10.73 for a dollar, my tobacco cost me ten times more than what the brothers pay in the US of A.
At R17.90 for a British pound I can't even think of buying there. Since January, I've already spent more than R4,000 on tobacco.

But, my brother in law made me a nice piperack which can hold 50 pipes.  I needed a couple of  briars to fill the rack as I wanted it to hold briars only.  I've got two smaller racks which I use to store the other pipes.  So that's why I bought some cheap briars. Cheap but very good value for my money  :D

Now I actually have 51 briars, counting the little Grabow as well.  This baby only holds enough baccy for about a 15/20 minutes smoke.  It's a beautiful Zimbabwian and I love it.

So, for the rest of 2014 no more PAD and lots of TAD.

150+!!!! A estate GBD Sovereign picked up last week I haven't had a chance to smoke yet (due to ice cold wx!!) and a 1920's Dunny on the way!!!! Plus five tins of Crown Achievement arriving any time now. More, more, more!!!!!!!!  FTRPLT

I don't see a problem here!

Cheers,

My brother built me a 24 place pipe rack.  It is almost full.  I reckon when I hit 24 I will get rid of some of the pipes that I don't like the way they smoke and replace them with upgrades.  I think this will keep me busy for at least two more years.  :D
I have a feeling Speedy will do the same.

Blasphemy. Refer to the rules of brotherly pipe smoking. A brother is always to encourage the purchase of another pipe, unless said brother wants said pipe for himself.

Here here! But, I want them all  :lol!:

I'm trying to keep below 50 myself (43 currently). I just can't smoke them all and they are in a PITA to clean annually......but I keep looking. I do try to ascribe to the strategy of "buy one, sell one" but with the current pieces, it is getting harder to let one go.

I have more than I need and less than I want. There's always a new style, or maker that catches my eye. I tried limiting myself to just a few makers, and that did last for 3 months, then . . . Savinelli and vintage Kaywoodies caught my eye. I truly suffer from PAD.

Perhaps you should get a falcon stem . . . and a wide varity of bowls!

You only clean your pipes once a year?  :affraid:

So far I'm still happy with what I've got.

Last year I bought a lot of pipes, sometimes waiting for 2 or 3 pipes to arrive. I've overspent but now I don't regret it. I might have 2, maybe 3 pipes I don't smoke that often but otherwise I enjoy all the others. And I have enough Savinellis to smoke one every day together with a GBD, Brebbia, Parker etc.

My birthday comes up end of July and I might convince my wife to buy me another pipe.

I'm hoarding tobacco now and will place an order every month until the end of the year. I'm buying bulk mostly, adding a tin or 2 of Escudo with each order. I don't want to be without Escudo ever again!
