Perceived value is a real tricky rascal at times, I suppose if a person is willing to pay so much for that pipe then fair play, bit rich for my pocket though, nice pipe I give it that.

Considering what it is and the fact that a Coronation back in the '60s sold for near $1,000.00 back then might not be such a bad deal if you have the jack available to spend and like a large superbly done Billiard

The Suma Cum Laud's were made of solid gold, Coronations just briar

It will probably sell in the $1,800 range, which is a pretty fair price for a Coronation grade pipe. That one might even be under graded a bit? The CP stem logo is very faint, with that intact, $2000 plus wouldn't be out of the question. The Charatan collectors really covet large pipes like this one.

Okay, I'll refrain my last statement, "It's a large SOB that better be made of solid gold!"

Wow.  You could fit an entire tub of Carter Hall in that bowl, and that's not a bad thing.  But at that price they better include a years worth of smoke material.
