anybody excited about the fall bass season?
its shaping up to be a pretty good one in south jersey so far. plenty of mullet and peanut bunker so far. I pulled a nice bass in this morning on a rebel popper. 34inches (sorry no pics) you will have to take a fishermen's word :D

I kind of gave up on striper, I've had no luck with them in the past couple of years, but I supposed I shouldn't lose faith.

I've had a lot of skunked days in areas that should have been productive. This is one fish that just hates me... I've had lots of luck with trout!

Are the stripers moving south now?

I'm ready for a VA/NC foray with the Jeep pre-packed. Lousy fishing off Norfolk/ VA Beach this past mid-summer and I've been waiting for the Fall runs.

hey there is nothing wrong with some trout fishing
Glad someone stood up for trout fishing! I get my chance in a couple of weeks. It's bitin' time for mountain brookies!

(...plus, the bass fishing in Nevada ain't so good... heh...)

i don't think the bass have started to move south yet. i hope its a good run this year "super storm sandy" didn't help at all last year.

fishing is fishing. i love to fish anywhere anytime. i am sure the striper run isn't to good in Nevada

Don't get me wrong, trout fishing is one of my favorite things to do. It's just nice to get a monster sized fish sometimes too!

Which is why I'll be going salmon fishing in October.

Pretty much like to catch any fish I can. I had fun in Florida just catching little cow and angel fish.

good luck salmon fishing. that is one type of fishing I would love try.

There's a few spots, most of 'em are in Lake Mead/Clark County.  Which as I'll attest, isn't really Nevada, but a suburb of Los Angeles.

Best striper I've caught were in Lake Powell in Southern Utah.  Lots of fun.

Meanwhile, trout will have to do.  Which is fine.   Nothing like a pan full'a brook trout with a few lemon slices stuffed inside, salt/pepper on the outside cooked whole, in a 1/4" of olive oil.  Sprinkle a touch of dill on top, and grab a fork.  Big mountain of steamed mustard/collard greens on the side with bacon bits...few dinner rolls to soak up the precious juices...

ummm you have made want to go out a catch some trout.

trout are tasty. a couple of nights ago I caught some weak fish (
I know its a bad name there not really weak its just there mouth that is "weak)
they used to be abundant around here but they as most fish were "over fished"
they have only recently started to make a come back. I caught two 24 inchers and one 15 incher a week ago. I couldn't bring my self to keep them so it was a catch and release night. I haven't seen or heard to many rainbow trout being caught this year.

good luck on your trout fishing!!
