Found this pipe in an antique shop. Unusual because I've never seen a face carving on a briarwood pipe.
Anyone have an idea on how old it might be ?

If you posted a photo it didn't show up but, figural briar pipes are not anything out of the unusual. In fact I collect them and and have people and animals as well as items such as vehicles, musical instruments, etc. Although some are valuable and are rarer then others Some can date back to the late 1800's and as new as yesterday. Here are just a few of mine.

I was digging thru estate boxes at my local shop and found figurals of FDR, Fidel Castro and Jesus - an interesting holy trio!

There's a set that I'm unsure of who made of all world personalities past and present. I have  a few, Churchill, Stalin, Eisenhower, MacArthur, Hitler, Kennedy, and Truman.

Some SG 1792 in a Hitler pipe. That would endear you to everyone. :fpalm:

WOW

Wow, that's an awesome set. I thought that was hitler amongst the other noteworthy characters. I like the vercingetorix personally, as my family is from the area around Strathbran.

Thanks guys, I posted them just show the OP what is out there.
Vercingetorix, Yes that is correct. A lot of people get him mixed up with a Viking
which we both know is not even close. I have two of him, one on the top row that's done quite well by either Sommer or Louis Lamberthod, the other is a not as good rendition by Mastercraft. ;)

This might be one of the best replies to a question that I have seen on this forum in a year maybe two.

Talk about "A picture paints a thousand words." :D

I was once tempted to buy a meerschaum of George Kennedy the actor wearing a western hat. Nice collection.
