From a great carver

Here is a nice example by one of the better known Meerschaum carvers, Ismet Beckler. Just a little engraving done to the bowl that takes nothing away from the shape and the stem is faux amber. Still keeping it smokey with some Mac Baren Club Blend Roll Cut.

Beautiful Meer and the maker did just the right amount of carving so not to take away from overall style. The shape of the shank and stem....PERFECT.
