Greetings to to the Brothers. I am a musician and teacher here in San Diego, and the founder of a Gregorian Chant schola, most of the members of which have become at least occasional pipe smokers as well. I've smoked a pipe on and off since the early 1980's, including a decade living in London during the '90's, at which time I used to enjoy frequenting Smith's in Charing Cross Rd., and even Fox's in St. James, but find that lately I have been smoking with much more purpose, and have even turned a bit to collecting. I have a small collection with a broad variety of pipes including clay, porcelain, gourde and briar, but for me it's ultimately about the tobacco and blend. This looks like a wonderful website and community, and I've told quite a number of people about it. I look forward to interacting with you all, and want to thank the creators for their work in making the Brothers of Briar a virtual reality.

Welcome aboard Fratellino! Looks like you are enjoying some fine blends there!

Welcome to the 'hood. Love to hear more about your Gregorian Chant schola. Sounds intriguing!

...for your hospitable remarks. Justpipes, I try to have a modestly discriminating palate, which means that in order to truly appreciate MacBaren's "Solent Mixture" to Fribourg and Treyer's "Mixture 34", or even Samuel Gowaith's "1792 Flake", one has to be familiar and appreciative of the classics like Kentucky Club and Prince Albert. I think if you can run the gamut of tastes, the foothills retain their charm and heights seem all the higher. I don't think that I could ever be a one tobacco man. Life's too short!
