Got that same alert as well.

Frankly, and at the point of blasphemy, I just haven't gotten the whole FVF thing. The aged samples I've had are nice enough but not anything that I'll be chasing.

And I hasten to add that I gravitate towards ginnys. Just not this one.

More for you guys.

:D

Cheers,

RR

Yah, not sure if I'm on the wagon...would have liked to have gotten some bulk, but you bastaards bought it all!!

It is creamy, though....

FVF definitely isn't the end all be all of VA blends, and not nearly as good as the hype, but it is a good smoke. It's just frustrating that it isn't more available, so when it is I like to get enough to last.

Due to all the hype of FVF I felt compelled to grab 2 tins of it when I got the email. Also grabbed some chocolate flake and a tin of Estoerica Pembroke, and in a month they will be here lol.

I'll admit that FVF didn't pique my interests until it became hard to come by. At first I wasn't overly impressed, but my take on FVF has changed over time. Now I really enjoy it, and I have come to enjoy it more and more as time goes on. If it went out of production altogether I would be bummed, but I wouldn't start hitting up ebay and paying $50 a tin. Due to its scarcity I keep a pound or so on hand. When it comes back in stock at a retailer who doesn't inflate the price too much, I'll replenish my stock, but only if necessary. I actually passed it over this time around because I'm sitting on about 2lbs. If you put a gun to my head and said FVF or Blackwoods Flake, I'd probably side with BF but I'm happy to have both.

Those who follow hard to find cigars know about Pete Johnson and the circus he creates with his limited release Tatuajes. That sort of thing is off putting to me. Knowing that the problem with FVF is not a gimmick, but rather due to the fact that SG is a small shop with limited production capabilities, I am happy to wait for each new shipment to hit the market.

Dave,
You make some good points for sure. Having given FVF a try a few years ago (before it got so IN to have) and now found BF, I've no need to try and get anymore FVF with a much better flake so available, JMHO :p

Well I have never paid more than $10 a tin for FVF and as long as some retailers are still offering it at a fair price, I won't pay more than that... Hopefully by the time it becomes REALLY scarce or REALLY expensive, I'll have enough stocked up to last a good while.

As for those who do not think FVF is that great, just like any other tobacco it's not to everyone's tastes. Perfectly understandable.

I love the stuff. But it's complicated lol

FVF, batch to batch, can be very different. I've never had a tin or bulk that I haven't enjoyed, but I have had many tins and some bulk that were exceptional. They were so good, in fact, that I feel the need to have a substantial supply... Some is bound to be amazing but I know that I will at least enjoy it all.

Also, I don't believe all blends require age to be enjoyed, or that age always makes a blend "better" (it's a matter of opinion) but FVF needs five years. At least five years. I've smoked young FVF and it was fine just underwhelming. Two years it was much better. Five years and I was in heaven. Older than that is a real treat. YMMV

And I like many other VA flakes but FVF is unique. I haven't found anything yet that could replace it. If they stop making it, the day I run out will be a solemn day

It's been discussed many times but I just felt like giving my cents ;)

Just a heads up, FVF is showing as "in stock" again at P&C. Price is 11 I believe but if you didn't get it last time they appear to have more.
